I like to think I'm creative, I love to make crafts, cards and all that fun messy things. But I have a problem with how and where to put the stuff. I admit I probably have too much stuff - but to be creative you need stuff! LOL!

I think of people who have "a place for everything" and that is juts not me. It drives me nuts because I'm constantly searching for things. I heard someone say they were going to organize their attic by seasons! I thought -- wow! Why didn't I think doing things like that that!? I feel so clueless in this area. So... what is your best organizing tip you can share?

If you don't love or haven't used it in a year-throw it out or give it away.

If you have a collection of things to "fix" one day-throw those out

If you have a collection of "I might need it one day" throw it out

If you have a collection "I might lose weight and be able to wear it again" Throw it out

Think of what you really need-keep those things-the can't live without things

Think of what you really love and what really brings you joy-keep those things

And when you shop think "Do I REALLY need this? Will I REALLY use it?"

Then the next step is actually finding a place for the things you want to keep.

I'm still working on that 2nd part-it took a while, but I did pretty good with the 1st part once I set my mind to it and got tired of all the clutter!

Tell me what type of things and I'll help you out.

    I'm an organizing junkie:love:, but can't implement anything I have worth a darn.

But I organize according to subject matter and make sure it all fits in one closet. My office and craft room is one in the same. Think outside the box. I have old oak piers, like you'd see on each side of a tv. I have my printers in there, paper underneath. I removed the top glass doors. I have shelves between them. Things I don't use too often are out of reach. I say, out of sight out of mind. I have things on shelves according to what they are; office supplies on one, paints, markers, brushes on another, lined paper on another. However, I do cardmaking and have that in a huge fishing tackle box that has a lid that opens and a front that opens into drawers. This I just set on my desktop and it's all there. It's about 12" by 14"L. And if I go anywhere I just take that and grab some paper. Paper is all in those plastic sterilite drawers (except for lined), cd and computer programs are on their own shelf...
    It depends what you have...

    PM me if you wish.

I read an article once that recommended the use of dishpans - like the cheap plastic ones you can buy at walmart, to store all your items by theme. I use littler diaper wipes/toilet wipes boxes for smaller materials, and store them in the larger dispan/bins. Then you can organization the bins by season, theme, or subject. For example, if you have items related to american history - perhaps a History Pockets book, workbooks, american history activities or craft projects, you can fit it all in that box.

I am fortunate enough to have a whole room with lots of book shelves just for homeschooling, so I organize all the books by subject, just like a library, use small plastic drawer until on the bottom shelves for small art supplies (like scissors and glue sticks), and dishpans for larger craft items. Those are all on appropriate shelves as well. My kids are all 8 or older, so ALL supplies are down as low as they can go so the kids can get to them anytime they want.

    Good luck organizing!
