Fyi!!! Free 12 hour dvd from the history channel on the history of america!

I've really, really enjoyed the series. I didn't think they harped on the homosexuality of the foreign officer who came to train revolutionary troops. The one thing I was disappointed with in that respect was that they left out Benedict Arnold. But, this is an overview, so you take what you get.

I've loved the dramatic stuff. It's helped keep mine and my kids' attentions. I don't like watching video of people droning on and on. And I have just as little interest in hearing people drone on and on while paintings of the events go by on screen. The dramas have helped keep the pace of the show going very nicely for us.

There are things about it I haven't been crazy about and stuff I'd have done differently, but as an overview, I think it's pretty solid.

 

I haven't seen any of them yet. I'm said to hear that they left out Benedict Arnold though. I live within a mile of his birth place and his parents and sibilings are buried at the cemetry near my home. I was really hoping to be able to have my daughter learn about him and then go visit historical places here.

You might check out the History Channel's mini series The Revolution. It was outstanding, and it DID do quite a bit with Benedict Arnold. I thought it was an interesting examination of the man and his motives.

 

It seems I remember something about them being shipped to arrive in mid August?? So those of us who requested them way back when should be getting them in a few weeks.

Yes! My high schoolers watched that series and it was excellent!

I remember that they said the Story of Us would be shipped out in time for the new school year, I believe it was August. So hopefully we will start getting them in the next few weeks.
