I hope this is not a "Duh" question. But I was reading an article in an E-zine and the writer mentioned naming her homeschool.I don't personally know anyone else that homeschools and so far this website is the only support I have from experienced homeschoolers. This thought never occured to me!I hope it's not too nosy of me to ask if any of you have named your school.I've read back through several threads on here hoping to find something about it.(maybe I overlooked?)We are not going for a very formal atmosphere, but a name probably would make it a little more official feeling for our kids.Plus coming up with it will probably be fun
We did name ourselves.. mostly for fun. We are the SFA Adventurers(SFA stands for S**** Family Acadamy). We also have a mascot.. or beloved old girl Beena who is a Dalmation.
I've found several places where we had to enter a name (Even HST has this option). So we use a play-on-words of our last name.
Many on here have named their homeschool. My children attend The Way of Wisdom Homeschool. The kids like to put it on forms, or when we take a field trip.

Hi when we started this past November I too read an article about naming. It isn't necessary but it does give my kids a response for what school do you go to? ;P So we brainstormed a list and had a vote. We combined the split vote into the name Adventure Hollow Academy. But we have since dropped the Academy when speaking and just say Adventure Hollow.
We are Peter & Paul Academy. Our colors are red (Christ's blood) and gold (Heaven's streets). Our mascot is the Centurion (see my avatar). Our motto is Miles Christi Sum (Latin for I am a soldier of Christ.)
Yes, we have a name. Wolf Bay High... now when the girls were little we were Princess Academy, of course that would work now so we change our name.
I've just been saying "Family name" School, but I'd really like to come up with a fun name that we love. I realized that every name I came up with that related to a local feature or famous person we respected was already being used by a nearby public school! I guess I'll have to think for awhile and see what my son comes up with (although that might be a little scary :lol.
Thanks Jackie. DH and I came up with it and everytime I think of our name it reminds me of WHY I am doing this, so that I don't make the same mistake I did last year of not trusting Him and doubting myself and as a result sending my oldest to school and giving him probably the worst experience of his young life. Now everytime I think of or see our name I remember that these are really His children and I've been entrusted with their care and education and it gives me a "boost" when I'm having a rough day.
Ours is Lighthouse Learning Center. We fill out the State's Private School Afidavit (sp?) and use that name.
We are LifeGate Academy! I also tutor and do other teaching stuff (ESL) under the name LifeGate Education, so using academy for our home stuff seemed perfect!
We are currently GA Peach Homeschool Though in the next year or two it'll probably change to something more boyish that lends itself to a mascot and colors and such... But We're in GA-the peach state and our classroom is peach (it was peach before we decided to homeschool and turn it into a classroom)
Oh, my...I think we used the same paint! Our extra/school room is almost this exact color. I think the paint chip was called Apricot Honey! LOL!
I love this idea! I never even thought of naming it but my son will have fun helping come up with a name, school colors, and a mascot! What fun!
Actually ours is a custom "save money by using what you have" color LOL When we moved in here we had to paint almost every room in the house cause the previous owners smoked inside for 10 years (as in you could see where every picture in the house was hanging!)....that room was our extra room so we used some paint my brother had left over and brought to us from working a construction job painting a school. It was bright orange! We mixed it with enough white to make enough to paint the whole room and got that LOL It's pretty I think, but since I have boys I would like to repaint a more boyish color one day...no time soon LOL but one day
We are 241 Academy. The 2 of us (mom and dad) doing it for one child. Our son. We have used this number for other things too. Like when our son use to race dirt bikes. His number was 241 and our race team was 241 Racing!!
