Hi everyone!! My name is Pat. This fall we will be starting officially homeschooling our little guy. He turns 4 this Nov and would be starting Junior Kindergarten. We will be taking I guess an eclectic sort of look at it. I want him to have some structure and routine but not rigid and fully class like. Our focus will be topics varying from JK-Grade 1....academically most of the curriculum from JK and Sk he has surpassed.....we will review a lot of it and focus on weak areas. He loves doing school work and asks for it.....especially the scissor cutting  I am in the process of setting up our spareroom as a special space for us for lessons/arts and crafts etc. We chose to homeschool as we travel a lot and feel the focus of school was not what we were wanting....
Welcome! I am new too, and my son is entering K--he will be five in September. We are taking a relaxed approach this year. We will be lapbooking with emphasis on learning letter sounds (We're going to lapbook the entire alphabet), lots of read-alouds and early reading concepts, and art/creativity. He excels at numbers and is more advanced in that area than all the K material I was finding, so we're going to practice basic addition, but mostly numbers will take a back seat this year because he struggles with letter sounds.
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!! I am glad I found what seems to be a great homeschooling forum.
Sorry I've missed saying hello right when you got here. HELLO! and welcome! This is my favorite place on the 'net!
