I think it well for the most part. I think my oldest thought it would all be fun and games and sort of got whiney when he had to practice his handwriting. We are using Mcruffy which I think we will love. He loved the math and didn't want it to be over but I'm hoping we won't have a battle with reading and writing everyday. I plan on doing lots of fun stuff too but the sit down stuff might be difficult. Still, I am very excited. I took them to the store to get a treat afterwards and everyone kept asking him why he wasn't in school. He proudly told everyone who asked, "I am, I am in homeschool". I'm very happy with our decision to do this and thank everyone on this board for the wealth of information!
Way to go for him! What a smartie! lol Something fun I learned working with Preschoolers, is to have them try and make letters out of their bodies, or objects. (Having them do it w/ their bodies is better IMO b/c they have to use a great amt of teamwork.) They you could say, "Hey, remembr you made an "L" today in the living room floor? Think about how you did it then with a slow steady hand, try and write it!" I always have to tell my DS to slow down when he does any kind of writing! lol. I'm so glad you had a great first day!!!!
Glad you had a great day! And I love the answer your son gave, "I am, I am in homeschool". That's grand.
Yay for a great first day! We are using McRuffy too and I really like it for my daughter. She's about halfway through the Kindergarten program. Is your son in K or 1? Beth doesn't care for the handwriting work either...but that's life I guess.
