A friend forwarded me an response from www.sheppardsoftware.com. They offer free educational software to educators. She e-mailed to see if they consider home educators in that category....and yes, they welcome us!!! They also ask for everyone to forward this information to other educators we might know. I can forward the instrutions for downloads, or you can go to www.sheppardsoftware.com and take a look. If you chose to go to the site, you will need to send an e-mail as an educator requesting the codes for the free downloads. A quick list includes SAT Crash Course, College Admissions Predictor, Presidents-Mania, States-Mania, Astro-Mania, Brain Builder math and vocabulary games, math puzzles, algebra games with many levels, and more. I haven't looked at all of them, but the ones I've seen are pretty good and my oldest is enjoying them, especially the one you drag and drop the states to the correct location (without any state outlines). They have multiple levels of difficulty and I can see being able to use most of these for a looooooong time. As I said, I am willing to forward the download instructions to save everyone some time.....or if a moderator can tell me if it is okay to post, I will post the message I received. Enjoy!
That sounds like a great site. Could you mail me the instructions please? I would greatly appreaciate it.
Bernie, I just sent you an e-mail with the instructions I received to download the educational games. You might want to print it out because you may need the codes after your initial download at the restart of the program you downloaded. However, after entering the codes, you have the game permanently instead of having to pay for the subscription. What a wonderful company to offer such a thing to home educators!
Brooke, Thank you for emailing me that info but please don't hate me! I accidently deleted you. I get so much spam and I forgot about you sending me that stuff. So could you please send it one more time??!! PLEASE!!
Awesome post- thank you! I can eally use this with my son. I have a cd-rom form prentice hall which is excellent. He has mini-movies, interactive programs, audio narrative that summarizes all the lessons. I have been trying to find more like this. Thanks again. Laurie
