We eased in this week. Some days because I had doctor appointments or tests at the hospital and some days because I was so sick. I am feeling a lot better after two weeks of this mess (dare I say human again)? I hope tomorrow will be a great day for us.

I'm an easer. We start with math, science, Japanese, and reading everyday for two weeks, then we add in the other stuff the third week. We do it this way so that he can concentrate on math and science only as he is beginning new levels and just get back on track with Japanese. Reading is just something he likes, so I add that in too. Then we add in the language arts stuff - which is only 1 day a week this year anyway, and our art and technology day, once the math and science is on track.

We haven't even started school yet either - won't until September 7th.

I think my son does better if we ease into it. He has a distaste for formal learning, but learns all the time. He went to private/public schools until 7th and I think he believes he is incapable of learning sometimes. This lack of belief in himself tends to make the first day or so very dramatic. So, in order to help us both we will ease into our full schedule.

My son seems to do better starting off just a 2-3 days a week for a couple of weeks, then going to full schedule. He doesn't do well with quick changes, so this helps him. Plus, it gives me time to get everything the way I need it before we're full tilt. :)
