Have you heard or known of kids with a sixth sense? By sixth sense I mean things like premonitions that come true, a deep spiritual connection, clairvoyance, etc. Interested to hear your perspectives...

Ok, this may b what you're talking about, and again it may not, but...
Let me start off by saying that I am TERRIBLY picky about what my kids watch on TV, I mean, terribly picky. So, I don't let them watch anything remotly scary, paranormal, or suggestive. When we lived in our last house (which ended up only being for 7 months) Bo (oldest DS) had TERRIBLE drams, and saw things as well.

P.S. I believe without a shadow of a doubt in Spirits and NOBODY can convince me differently b/c I've experienced it many times myself

He always spoke of a little boy in his room. If the closet light was on/big crash/foot steps/talking, it was the little boy. Soon he became more than a mention and our son was terrified to sleep in his room b/c of "the little boy". Everytime we asked about the boy, Bo told us he was setting on the toddler bed (an old bed we had bought from an old couple for $5, bent up a bit on the bottom b/c they said a "big person" got in it once). After our son had stopped sleeping, and eating we decided something had to be done. So one night in Bo's room we decided we were getting rid off the bed, and it seemed to really make him feel better. WELL...later that night he was screaming. We ran into the room and the old toddler bd and his bed were askew, so we took him into our room, and laid down, and suddenly he looked up at our ceiling and said, "Look at the lights! Danciing lights!" DH and I saw nothing, but weren't afraid, it seemed to get quieter and calmer to where our son soon fell asleep and we did too. The next day (first thing might I add) the bed was on the curb, and we had ZERO problems after that. ZERO! I firmly believe my son when he said there was a little boy in his room.

I think children can sense things that we can't because they are so fresh from God. They are still so familiar with the Lord and Heaven that they can still see remnants of it in thir first years on earth. I also think if the parents keep that dep spiritual connection, and don't dissmiss the child when they speak of it, the connection can remain causing a "Sixth Sense" child. I read alot of Sylvia Browne, and I agree with alot of what she says, for example: Heaven isn't "out there in the universe", it actually three feet above our Earth (on a different wave length) and thats why when we get visions of loved ones they appear to be floating, but they are actually just walking on their own land. :)

I have premonitions or "feelings" about things and they always end up true. I don't know what it is. Some things I just "know". I feel them deeply and I just "know".

Goose bumps!! As far as premenitions go, I've only had one and it was when my step mom had her car accident that she died in. I happened to be driving down the street and it was like I was dreaming for a second. I saw glass flying. I know this sounds weird but It's true. I don't know exactly how to explain it. I had an AWEFUL feeling after that and almost turned back around and went home. 2 hours later we got the call that she had bee killed. Coincidence?? Maybe. I don't think so though.

I absoluetly believe in "spirits". My grandmother lived in one of the oldest homes in Pueblo along with her 13 kids and every single one of my family members can tell you stories that give you goose bumps like you wouldn't believe. Things from being alone in the house and the baby missing and finding it under the bed. Newborn baby mind you. To seeing cowboys in the kitchen out the corner of their eyes. One thing I remember is them chasing someone that was in the house once up the stairs and they just disappeared.I can't for the life of me remember why they felt the need to chase them but that's what I remember. No kidding! My husband thinks I'm nuts but I TOTALLY remember these things. You always felt like you were being watched there too. Weird..

Grandma finally sold the house after the kids grew up. The new owners found Human bones and an OLD gun buried beside them in the basement. Dad couldn't wait to call and tell me that. None of the grandkids dared go down there. If my memory serves me correctly it was a dirt floor and VERY dark and scarey.

My aunt did some research on the house and learned that it was on old plantation home. I can't remember how old the house actually was but it was old enough to have slave quarters. She said she went back years later (just to see if our family was nuts) and asked if they ever "seen" anything. And they confirmed they had. So we're not nuts after all. LOL.

When my dd was little - like 3 and under - she often appeared to be reading my thoughts. Like when we were driving along, and I was thinking about a certain person, and dd suddenly asked me about her, in a way that was like a response to something I'd said, only I hadn't said a word out loud! That's just one example, but it happened fairly often.

Don't know of any kids with a sixth sense, but my mom told me about a premenition she once had, She said she was driving down the road and the light turned yellow, she stepped on the brakes, and....no brakes, or the road was icy, I can't remember, there was a song on the radio, and then she was hit by a red car, then a yellow car. Well a few minutes later, she was on that same road, the light turns yellow, so she starts pumping the brakes, and was able to stop, next thing she knew, the same song came on the radio, and first a red, then a yellow car went by. Had she not had that premenition who knows what would have happened.

And as for spirits....she also had a erie story about a spirit. She was a nurse at the VA hospital, and one night on her way into work she stepped into the elavator, and there was a man standing there, she asked him what floor he was going to, and he said the 6th floor, the same one she worked on, so she pushed the button, and turned back around, and he was gone...like disappeared. When she got to the 6th floor, someone asked her, "Are you OK?" And she said, "I think I just saw a ghost" and then was told, that one of her patients just passed away. She told me she thought it was someone coming to take her patient that just passed to the otherside.

    Only slightly unrelated:

I think "paranormal" type stuff is 100% Biblical. Christian even in many contexts (not all, of course). After all, couldn't psychic and clairvoyant be called prophecy and discernment? How many people in the Old Testament had dreams that came true? Our God is a powerful Spirit being. He works in a realm we can not see. But sometimes we are blessed with glimpses into that realm. Into His power and wisdom. Even the New Testament details spiritual gifts that, when truly manifested, would be considered paranormal beyond a doubt.

I have seen things I can't rationally explain as has my mother. I choose to live in the here and now though. Some things are better left alone ya know? The more you let it in the more it can take hold and effect you. That's not talking about premonitions so much as other paranormal. Although I will say my DH and I know what the other is thinking often. For example the other day I was thinking of something and then he said something using my exact thought. He tends to do it more then myself so if anyone is a mind reader it would be him lol. Because he doesn't believe in paranormal at all!
Another thing I do think kids are more in tune with the universe then we know. After all we supposedly only use 10% of our brains who knows what is hiding in those other unused parts.
My son was two when he told me his little sister had drowned in a creek and he jumped in to try to save her but he couldn't. I was a little freaked because my Grandmother had family that drowned. And further my son hadn't heard of drowning before then. Also he intuitively knew when my DD had turned in my tummy. I recall he was talking to ' his baby' and he was laying upside down to do it. It seemed odd. But in reality she had turned. :)

This is what I am thinking as well. I wouldn't say it is unrelated.

I've experienced a particular phenomenon many times in my life: A word (usually a number or a name) will come to my mind a second or two before it is spoken unexpectedly by someone else. Hardly the most impressive example of 'sixth sense', but it does convince me that, though we're locked to the arrow of time today, one day we'll be free of time. Every time it happens, I wish I'd blurted out the word in time just to prove that it really did happen.

I've sometimes wondered whether what I'm hearing is a repeat of something I heard previously and never really took in. The examples, though, are very specific and always seem to relate to something I could never have heard before.

I have one strange story myself. Two years ago we had just moved into our home. It was brand new, but there was at least one other home that was leveled on the lot before this one was built. I was sitting at my computer desk feeding my baby a bottle - she was maybe nine months old at the time - when all of a sudden I saw a flash of red go by me down the steps. It was a person for sure, but so fast I couldn't tell if it was male or female or anything. My baby whipped her head around and saw it for sure as well, although she was too young to comment. No one else was home - I think it had to be a ghost or spirit. The strange thing is I am very very whimpy and if I thought my house was haunted I'd be gone. I just couldn't deal really. But for whatever reason this did not scare me at all. I felt very peaceful and fine about the whole thing. It's been two years and never happened again. Oh and my dh totally didn't believe me...my only witness was the baby, lol. It did make me feel bette that she saw it too, that way I knew I wasn't just crazy.

I'm not sure if my kids have had a "sixth sense" but if one has a feeling I do listen to it. For instance my dd could not explain why this one guy was creepy to her but he was...I was okay with her not spending time with him.

I have had many paranormal experiences. I have had times when I felt an evil coming from a person.

Here is a post I wrote...this blog is under a pen name...however this story is 100% true the other stuff is just made up: http://myscarletthread.blogspot.com/2010/05/apartment-3b-real-paranormal-activity.html It's long...but I could never go into all of it now. Suffice it to say...I believe in the spirit world and I do believe we can sense evil if we allow ourselves to be discerning of spiritual things.

Dd has told me that the "man in the picture" (photo of dh's g-father) tucks her in at night. he passed before I married into the family. I have also smelled my great-grandmother's perfume on my children late at night when I check on them. Trick of the mind or not, it freaks me out.

OMG, when I was in my early teens I was playing outside in the fall, and I stopped suddenly because I got the distinct smell of Copenhagen (chew). OMG, it's the most wonderful smell to me! My grandpa who passed quite some time ago always chewed it and I loved him SOOOOO very much! We were extremly close. It felt like a warm hug! A wonderful experince that has stayed with me for years!
