I use Wordly Wise with all my kids and we like it ok. It mainly does the vocab part..but the kids have to also spell them for me.
Have you looked into Spelling City? It is a Free online spelling program ..This is all we use for our kids!
Using Rod and Staff here and so far so good. I used Bob Jones once before and liked it. I would have purchased it again but I just bought an entire language arts set from Rod and Staff.
I've used grade 2 of R&S last year. When I use CLE LA, I just use the spelling that is in the LA. Back when I used Lifepacs, I just used the spelling that was in those too. I'm using CLASS spelling 2 and 3 this year. I am also doing level 1 of Sequential Spelling as a "morning warm up" type exercise. I looked at Spelling Power once, but I didn't like its looks - can't remember why now.
I just bought A Reason for Spelling but I didnt realize I needed a guide book to go with it. We use A Reason for Handwriting and my daughter loves it.
We just started Sequential Spelling and the boys LOVE it! They enjoy seeing how many words they can spell without ever having learned it. I like that it's not teaching them to memorize spelling of words but rather to recognize specific sounds and know what letters make those sounds.
We are using The McGuffey's Eclectic Spelling Book (download free on Google Books) along with Spelling City.
