If you want a good Bible for your Kindle, then I would suggest the WEB bible. It is the only one I have found that let's you jump to verses. The same man that formated that translation for the Kindle also did one called the NET Bible. It has added notes. It is supposed to be a good one too. There are many good Bibles and translations. If you are new and just beginning to learn, then I would definitely stay away from the King James Version. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it, but unless you grew up with it or really like the old English style it will probably trip you up. For new Christian's I suggest the NIV simply because it is simpler. It is not "perfect." Not meaning God's word, but the translation. If you really want to seek to know more about God, then pray and ask Him for help in directing you. He can use any translation you can get your hands on. You just have to have a willing heart.

Again, as far as the Kindle, then I would suggest the WEB Bible. It is a more modern translation and has good reviews and has been formated to work with the Kindle unlike many other good Bibles or study Bibles. It is just $4.99. You can try it out, but I don't believe you can do all the verse jumping in the sample. However, I would suggest that you still get a Bible you can put in your hands. I myself just got a new Kindle his week, but I'm not going to stop using my other Bibles. If you are like a lot of people, then you are going to want to underline, highlight and make a lot of notes in your Bible. You can do some of that with the Kindle versions, but it's not the same.

Also as far as your kids go, I'm not sure how old they are, but just start out reading their children's Bible to them. They will learn and you will learn from it. I still learn by reading my children stories. I remember things I forgot and come along some things I never realized before. As you learn more in your own studies, then you can expand on their children's stories my making them more in depth.

I know this is long, but just one other thing. I know it is hard to find a good church or maybe just one you feel comfortable in. I have had my own struggles with that. However, pray about that also and perhaps God will lead you to the right church or perhaps He will lead the right person to you that will direct you to the right church. No matter how it works it can and it will if you really want to seek to know more about Him you can and will. I do have to stress that it is very helpful and important to get with other believers that you are comfortable with because they will lead you, teach, you and help bless your the life and your family's.

    I'l be praying for you!

    God bless,

    Suzanne
