Even though we homeschool, dd11 was taking band and chorus at the local ps 1st hour Monday through Thursday (although they were not allowig dd to be given a grade, just pass/fail  ). After a week or so, she told us that she wasn't so sure God wanted her there. She said the kids were disobedient and she didn't like it. Well, after about a month now, she determined that God definitely didn't want her there. When we talked to her instructor, dd told her that the kids were cussing and were mean and didn't listen. The instructor was very concerned that dd had been subjected to bullying or something of the like, to which dd replied, "No, they are just mean to each other and I don't want to be around it." I told the instructor that when you are not around unruly children most of the time, you tend not to tolerate it. So, all that to say that we no longer have reason to have anything at all, EVER to do with the ps again!!!!! Woo hoo!!!!!
Wow. Nice that your daughter can speak up for herself. It can be hard to tolerate. Even as a PS kid myself it was wearing to listen to everyday all day. And some things I wish I never heard Good for your daughter And by the way love your new pic.
Ahhhhh...it's Monday morning and dd11 just rolled out of bed. Can you hear the birds singing and the orchestra playing as the sun shines through the window?! Great way to start our first day of freedom! And thanks! I just took that pic yesterday.
I was in both band and chorus. Us "Bandees" are a pretty rough, rowdy crowd. LOL! But really, we were really bad, and looking back on it I'm mortified, and embarassed by what we did, but we had fun at the time. Luckily my parents had no idea of some of the stuff we did, b/c they weren't "fluff" disciplinarians, lemme tell ya. I'm glad your DD is taking responsibility for herself by taking away the negitive influances and replacing them with something positive! Good for her, she's growing up! WOOHOO!!
Good for both of you! Your daughter seems very wise to the ways of children her age! My kids are the same way...even in Public school, they would come home and wonder why their friends acted so different in school. Congrats on being PS free!! LOL
Awwww...thanks guys. I think my kids are pretty terrific! We all have the best kids around, don't you know?! If anyone was on the Spot years ago when my kids were younger, you would know the time we used to have, especially with ds. Without investing this time of hs'ing our kids, they would have been lost to the world. Praise God He has blessed our family with the opportunity to homeschool. Thank you, Lord!!!
