Taking a moment to play this morning before I wake the troups...
Yesterday on the way back to our cars from dropping our kids at play practice one mom and I were talking about our schedules-- I was leaving to go back to my ds' baseball game where dh was waiting for me so I could drive them home... discussed something else during our daily schedules and she looked at me and said "Do you home school or something?" with a funny look on her face...
I grinned back and said.."yes...." Wondering how she would figure that out... then came the surprise "Sodo we!"
She went on to tell me about her kids and what they use, and what didn't work for them, So I shared what we use and what we have not used because I do not like how it looks hahah. Anyway her kids seemed very mild mannered when they came in, well behaved and did not chase the other kids around but like dd sat and visited quietly so I wonder if thats a home school thing? lol!
But seriously I did not see this coming in the community theater ! HA! LOVE IT THough!
I feel confident leaving my teens there knowing the director goes to a near by church and have met his wife and she is sweetie! They even have dress codes to be sure no one is dressing in apprpriately!
But now that I know there are also home schoolers inthe group ( Just happened to sit next to ds and dd too lol go figure?

So.. to make this a thread instead of a yack, lol, where have you met new homeschool friends? any unusual stories?

I run into homeschoolers ALL the time around here, but it is UBER popular in my area. It's kind of no big deal anymore. lol.

I did want to say that most of the kids who are involved in our community theatres are homeschoolers.

Honestly I never run into homeschoolers around here, other than our group meetings. Then again I may and just don't know it...

Homeschoolers are rare here. And word gets out fast if you do homeschool. Hush hush they must be crazy! lol. Very great for you that you found some other homeschoolers and that the kids are getting to know each other :)

It is funny because I was out with DH the other night and I ran into an old friend from school that I hadn't seen in a LONG time! We were chatting and she said, "When are you going back to NC? Don't the kids have to start school?" and I said, "Oh we homeschool, so not a problem" and low and behold she said she homeschooled her children as well!!! It was so nice to chat with her about subjects and activities all night!

I recently found an old friend on facebook that I haven't seen in over 18 years. Turns out that she homeschools too.

I've been thinking about this lately. The people who I really truly got along well with when I was in college, I'm finding now homeschool their kids. You have to wonder if there's something in our personalities that make us inclined to this lifestyle. IDK... just musing, really.

Really Amie, I found people who are friendly and outgoing enough to share ideas seem to be homeschool moms that I run into.
we end up talking one another's ears off, are planners and easily excited ( like when we find a curric that works!or get a catalogue in the mail).

Now that we moved to a different part of Maryland we see them a lot too around here. The funny thing is where we are now the school system is said to be great, yet there are more homeschoolers here.
