Any recommendations for good TV shows? We don't have cable so we watch TV online. Right now we only have one show that we watch per week. Looking for 1-2 other good shows.

The only one we watch right now is Parenthood, but we watch 24 when it is on too.

I can't tell you enough how much I love NCIS. There really are no words.

I also recently fell in love with Bones.

I was really enjoying Covert Affairs. They'll start up again this winter.

I watch Bones, Criminal Minds, House ... uh ... can't think of anything else off hand. I don't watch a whole lot of TV really. We're thinking about ditching ours except that the only channels we watch are the premium ones (like history or discovery health).

Personally, I don't watch TV; however, I learned about a British TV series based on a small Cornish fishing village. The real name of the village is Port Isaac, and it's a half-hour drive from where I grew up. It's almost identical in layout to Porthscatho, a similarly small village where my ancestors lived for generations.

To my delight, the first three series are available for free at Hulu - so I signed up and have been watching one episode a night. Because of character development, it's important to watch them in sequence, which is what I've been doing. So, if you'd like to learn about life in Cornwall, experience British humor, enjoy stories that usually focus on medical matters, and hear the accent of most of my relatives(!), search for 'Doc Martin' on Hulu. I understand it is also broadcast on some PBS stations.

I am absolutally madly deeply in love with House. I never miss an episode and I counted down the days until the season premiere started and I camped out at the computer to give updates during commercials! lol. Also like the Mentalist, and Lie to Me.

There is a new show on The History Channel called Swamp People. We absolutely love it, especially since my hubby is from New Orleans! It's his people! LOL! They post the new episodes on their website I think!

As a Brit, I confess to not being able to take Hugh Laurie seriously as a doctor. He was one of the principal characters in the Blackadder comedy series. View this video clip only if you have the courage! And if that's not enough, try Laurie as the Prince Regent. :)

Since we don't have kids at home anymore (except for dgs's couple weekends a month visits), I have a lot of time to watch tv.... I lovelovelove my dvr! because it looks like all the good stuff comes on at the same times on the same days. Then I can watch one thing I've already recorded while two other things are being recorded!!! Yes, I am a fan(atic)!

Bones, House, NCIS, CSI (the original), Lie to Me, The Mentalist, Gray's Anatomy, Private Practice, Survivor, and Survivors (when I caught a few episodes on BBC America), Oh, and The Colony, and HawthoRNe, Miami Medical, (well, these last two were on), and some others, and now there are some new shows on that I haven't actually watched yet but I like the people who star in them (The Whole Truth, Outlaw, The Defenders...) -- but also Doctor Who, The Naked Archaeologist, Chopped, Project Runway, Top Chef, The Next Food Network Star -- and The Legend of the Seeker! anybody else see this one? comes on WGN, ABC Productions, filmed in New Zealand - great for "swords 'n' sorcery" fans! And Swamp People is a new favorite.

Oh, and I'll watch Gordon Ramsey sometimes, but I get burnt out pretty quick on all the bleeping that goes on...

Most of this stuff I don't watch while dgs is here, but he will watch the cooking shows with me, and the Speed channel and Versus and the Sportsman's channel and some Discovery, Science channel, and some History channels and Military channel with DH, depending on what's on. He loves Ice Road Truckers, for some reason. We used to watch Deadliest Catch, but I don't know if I want to watch that much after Captain Phil died. DGS loves Man vs Wild, and Survivorman, because he likes to watch them eat all kinds of gross-looking stuff!

We all love Merlin --- absolutely great show! You can get season one from Netflix [either in DVDs or streaming]. Season 2 should be out soon; we DVR'd it when it was on the Sci-Fi channel this last summer.

I personally like Hoarders. It really jump starts my cleaning gene. LOL

Shelley, have to second Hoarders. My kids have been much better about picking up after viewing a few episodes. :)
I like House, Bones, and Law & Order SVU - but I tend to not let the kiddos watch those. Little too graphic for their ages.
As a family, we enjoy Warehouse 13, Eureka, and Wipeout. Warning about Wipeout though - my boys will start jumping over all the furniture while watching the latest physical test. Is not a show for passively sitting :)

I like House, NCIS, Glee and Oprah. Of course I DVR all of them. DH gets home before 4 and he then controls the remote. (Puts a new meaning to remote control.) He doesn't watch anything specific, he channel surfs. If he does start to watch something he changes the channel about the time I start understanding the show. YEP, love my DVR!
