Has anyone used Language Lessons by Sandi Queen? I happened upon this product yesterday and have been reading about it and it looks like something Grace and I might like. I had purchased CLE Language Arts but after one lesson we both knew we hated it. Language Lessons has a Charlotte Mason feel to it which is what I love. Anyone have any experience with it?
I am using the very first book of hers called Language Lessons for Little Ones. DD is 4 1/2 and she loves it!
I'm thinking about it too yet. I'm broke right now but in a week or two we'll see what I'm thinking lol. Let me know more about it once you get it
We have the first couple and ds1 enjoys it, we are taking it very slowly and just do the verbal stuff, as hes not ready to write yet, but he enjoys it
I used Language Lessons for the Very Young with Phillip. It worked out very well. I got the next one, but by then I felt we needed a bit "more".
I have used Warriners English Grammar & Composition in a school setting and I liked that alot. The best English grammar tool is still Grammtech. www.academicvisions.com
Ok I wanted to bring this back up again. I am about to place my orders for our next school year and would like help in placing Gracie in the right level. She will be 8 at the end of January and will be starting 3rd grade. She has had no formal grammar lessons whatsoever. She reads very well, does copywork and narration already. Should I put her in Very Young 1 or 2? Jackie I am hoping you can help since you used Very Young.
I only used Very Young when Phillip was Kindergarten or First. I bought 2 the next year, and for some reason quit half-way through. I'm guessing it will be too easy for Gracie. I tried to go to Simply Grammer, which I had used with one (both?) of my girls. Then we switched to Rod and Staff, which is grammar-intense. We did that for two years, 3rd and 4th. I started him in it again this year, but he's kinda going through a stage so I switched to Easy Grammar (which I had from the girls), and which is a bit easier and less busy work. So I'm afraid I'm not much help. I've REALLY been happy with both Easy Grammar and R&S, but neither are very Charlotte Mason. Have you considered Learning Language Arts through Literature?
Queen Supply is not too far from us. The people who run the place are AMAZING. And, I have a friend who was just telling me about them last night, (the Language Lessons ) and she said they are AWESOME! Very Charlotte Mason. HTH. ETA...if you go the Queen's website and clink the link to LL through that main page, there's a matrix for figuring out where your student would fit.
Well thanks a lot Jackie! lol! Krista I did look through that page and attempted to figure out where to place her but I am still not sure.
