I'm trying to cut back on expenses so hair cutting is on the top of my list. We don't do hair cuts as often as others probably do already, but we do still get them. And at $20 a pop it's too steep for us right now. SO, I bought a $13 pair of hair cutting sicors at Wal-mart today. Cut my girls hair. They LOVED it. Cut my 13 year olds hair and he liked his too. Now the 14 year old won't let me near his hair for fear I'm going to mess it up. LOL. Does anyone know of a hair cutting tutorial that a beginner could watch and be able to give a good hair cut afterwards. I googled and the ones I found just went too fast for me and didn't explain things very well. Thanks Angela
I think there's a brochure in the package with a Wahl electric clipper and trim-guides. At least an old one I had from years ago had one in it - with pretty good illustrations and explanations, too. I see their ad on tv kinda regularly these days.... Did you try this page? http://consumer.wahl.com/Products/HairClippers/GeneralInstructions Here's a pdf file: http://consumer.wahl.com/images/uploads/Home_Haircutting-Eng910.pdf
You're a brave woman! I use clippers to cut my DH's and boys hair, but I would never attempt to cut their hair with scissors!
I use to cut hair for a living. I would recommend checking out you tube. But, if you are cutting a boys or a mans hair. The best hair cuts are the neck line. That is the most importand part. To go around the ears use just the edge of your clippers. Your best bet is to get something small for this sorta like a mustache trimmer
I cut my boys' hair w/ scissors. I can't really explain how to do it though! Definately try the links from Lindina!
OK........ I've been banned from cutting DH's hair anymore, but I still cut the boy's hair and I use scisors mostly and sometimes clippers. I've never thought about looking at U-tube.
I'm licensed to do hair in Texas. I cut my girls and husband hair at home but don't work in a salon anymore. The best thing for doing a boy or man's cut is a peanut. It is a small little trimmer and I don't know what I'd do without it. It works fantastic for the neckline, around the ears and for blending clipper cuts. I got mine at the beauty supply but you have to be licensed to buy there. Do you know anyone licensed that could get it for you?
I cut my guy's hair because we have never had the $$ to spend on something that is a luxury. They always get compliments, my sis showed me how.
I cut my boys' hair and my husband's hair. And for that matter, I cut his brother's hair, too! No hair cuts for girls in our house! I clipper around the sides, and scissor cut around the ears and the top. My aunt taught me - she said that the goal is to have all the hair the same length, so use the comb to lift it up and cut it straight across. Then, move the comb to the next spot of uncut hair and lift it up to the same spot (I use my fingers as a guide, by laying them against their head and then anything above that, I cut) and cut there. Keep moving all around the top until it's all even. Then, use the clippers to smooth in the sides. I agree that youtube would be a great place to start to learn how!
Well, I cut it and they survived.. They weren't too happy about me doing it, but I can't afford $20 at the barber. And besides, last time I sent them, they butchered their hair.. I could've done that myself and saved the money for some new socks and undies for ME. LOL...
Exactly! I know what you mean. My dh would pay $10.00 back when we met, 23 years ago for a hair cut and he would come home looking like he left, bushy headed! I felt like we were throwing money away so I started doing their hair. We save about $60.00 a month now. My youngest ds trims my hair for me.
I have been cutting my boys and DH hair for YEARS. But try utube for some videos like the other said, in no time you will be cutting their hair too
