I live in Central Mississippi. I am going to start homeschooling my two rowdy boys (5 and 7). I have no idea how to keep my boys entertained. I joined this website to gain knowledge and fellow homeschooling moms ideas. I am always open for new ideas and plans. :D

Rowdy boys sounds like my kids lol. One boy,7 and a girl wild child, red head, 5. I let them entertain themselves with games of the imagination a lot. And when they start to fight we go outside or chores are broken out big time to wear down the energy reserves. Sometimes I think we put too much pressure on ourselves to entertain kids. Cut tv way down and their imaginations are awesome sources of entertainment. Also when they are running out of their own ideas for game play I recount what I played as a kids with my siblings. They generally love the idea and are off playing what I told them about lol. This week they are busying themselves while I prepare for a craft/bake sale and that included music appreciation. I turned on the satellite's classical music and discussed composers and what classical music is about. And let them listen while playing with pipecleaners. When they tired with that they have now moved on to drawing. Check with your local newspaper. Ours sells the end of the rolls of blank newsprint cheap. It's great for all sorts of stuff. :)
    And welcome.

Welcome! Your boys are a year older than ours (6 and 4). We know what rowdy is all about. It can make homeschooling a bit challenging, but it is so rewarding in the end. Don't be a stranger. You will find a whole lot of encouragement on this forum.

Welcome! I used to have a rowdy boy....he's now 14. The best investment we made was a trampoline. After each lesson or two, I'd have my kids (I also have a dd11) run outside and jump off the extra energy. :D My ds spent a couple years in public school when he was in K and 2nd grade.....rowdy boys do so much better at home! Imagine what happens when they aren't free to move a bit and get the wiggles out.....not pretty.

Brooke I so totally agree. Rowdy boys boxed up isn't pretty. My poor son returned from grade one a whinning mess everyday. At least now the whinning is gone even if the energy remains. Further boys grow to men who need energy and a lot of it. No reason to make them think there is something 'wrong' with them for having it.

Welcome. I have a very rowdy 3 and 6 year old. I agree homeschooling where they can jump and fidget and wiggle while they learn and take breaks to get the energy out is MUCH better than PS!
