At what age did your child/children stop napping? My kids have all been between age 2 and 3. My daughter isn't even 2 1/2 and only naps a couple times a week now.

My son will be 4 next month. He still functions much better if he naps. If he is getting a bit crazy we go for a family drive to have hime go down for one.

My eldest stopped around 2 1/2- we started mandatory quiet time.

My youngest would stay take a nap every day if I let her- I don't because then she has a hard time falling asleep at night. On nights I know we'll be out late, she gets a nap- she even cheers when I tell her she can have one! On non-nap days, she gets quiet time.

Naps were NOT an option at that age. They went to their room, and I expected them to lie down on their bed for 15 minutes. Most times they would fall asleep. After that, if the child was still awake, I would give them books to look at or pictures to color for an additional 15 minutes. But that half-hour in their room quiet was REQUIRED. And still is; my kids are 10, 14, and 16, and they're expected to have a half-hour silent reading time daily in their rooms (all at the same time).

Babyboy, our unofficial grandson who stays with us everyday, is 5 now and still naps every afternoon.

With 2 of my kids too much sleep during the day means hours of awake time in the middle of the night. After being awake until 5 am the other night I think naps are coming to an end.

My boys are 7yo, 6yo, and 15mo. My 15mo still takes at least one and sometimes two naps per day, and my 6 and 7 yo boys nape on average 3 times a week. They have quiet time daily in the beds with a book and if they fall asleep fine I let them sleep, if they don't then they can get up after 1/2 hour. Depending on the week they will nap 1-5 times a week, but it averages out to about 3 times a week.

Not one of my 5 children ever napped past their second birthday! I tried the "send them to their room for quiet time and they might fall asleep" method but it never, ever worked. They might look at a book or play quietly, but naps were gone. My youngest, who's turning 4 next week, needs very little sleep and if she naps, she'll still be wide awake at midnight. OTOH, I would happily take a nap everyday if I could.

I could've almost written this myself. We do have quiet time on most days (unless we're running errands), and my 2 year old is still napping sometimes (just turning 2, not almost 3). When he naps, it's never longer than an hour unless he's sick.

My son was done with naps just after turning 2. I think he would have napped longer, but we moved and really messed up his schedule the two months between houses. We never got them back.

My kids were mostly around 4-ish. My youngest actually still takes one every now and then when we've had a crazy few days in a row....she puts herself to nap! LOL :)

When they started giving up nap, we had mandatory "quiet" time where they had to sit on their beds, and they could listen to story books, color, whatever IN BED. Sometimes they would fall asleep, sometimes not. But...at least I got some time to myself. They were NOT allowed out until I let them out. :)

My ds stopped napping between 2 1/2 and 3. DD may have napped occasionally until 4. DGS 5 still naps - sometimes I don't even have to send him - he just goes! DGD 3 1/2 naps sometimes but always has a quiet time in the afternoon, and her mother (my DD) DARES her to get out of her bed!!! She doesn't have to actually sleep, but she does have to stay on her bed. When I was a kid, I never saw the value of naps past about age 4, but now that I'm as old as I am, I always come in from school and take a power nap in my recliner!
