okay so I am done with the boy scouts for now. Now it;s time for the girls. The price is 15 dollars per month so with two girls it's $30 and this will include all supplies for crafts/patches/outings. Man this is like $362 while my son is only $100. In his club we pay for all outings if need too. The girls seem to do WAY more stuff than boy scouts. We can just walk outside and you get a patch. Curious to what other scout fees are. A few year's a go when my oldest was a Daisy it was $5 a meeting and then it was $10 a meeting for Brownies. This year both are $15 each. The co leader said she will make a spreadsheet so we all can see where the money goes which is nice. I am just surprise how much it's gonna be for the year.

My girls have been out of scouts for a couple of years, but it seems like their dues were about that much. However, after the troop's first year, they used their cookie money to cover their dues for the year and we just had to pay for extra things if they didn't sell enough cookies to cover their share.

Wow...My BIL is an Eagle Scout so I'm not foreign to the "Scouts" thing, but I know that it CAN get expensive. With all the things he does like: Drive me to do this here, I need to buy this here so I can do this for that, and so on. "Hidden Costs" MIL calls it. I don't know a stitch about Girl Scouts, but it would sorta seem like the same thing, but I don't know really. :/ Sorry I don't have much input!

It depends on the troop as to how much the dues are. I know alot of the supplies can be pricey and if they do a snack during the meeting there is that cost. Most of the patches are about $1-$2 a piece so depending on how many they are planning on doing. Cookie money can help but they only get about .50 a box and part of that covers council admin fees in reality.

We looked into doing a Brownie troop this year but since we started so late we are doing Juliette. We have a few other girls doing Juliette and we are going to meet as an unofficial troop. There was just way too much paperwork and such to get a troop started last minute.

Wow ours is MUCH cheaper... it is a homeschool group. We paid the registration like 15 or something and then $2 dollars a meeting.

We spend about $1000 a year on the things Garrett does with Boy Scouts. Rylee is now old enough for Daisys but I can't find any info about them and when I try to contact our district office thing it always tells me that their database if full. I don't know where the money will come from for her and then in 2 year we will have another boy in scouts.. we will be broke for sure.

Wow....It's been a few years since my daughter was in girl scouts, but ours was only $35.00 for the year! We did not have to pay for each meeting. As for snacks, we took turns, each week one child would bring the snack.

Whoa - I am a girl scout leader and we do only $24 a YEAR for due (outside the GS membership fee). We either do things on the cheap (which we did last year) or have the parents pay out of pocket. However, my girls sold SO MANY cookies last year, this year we had about $3000 to spend, and even after build a bear, Legoland, painted earth, a year end party, a bridging ceremony, plus patches and the like, and we still have $1000 left!

I think that some troops don't sell so many cookies, so they don't have as much $ so they need higher dues.

ya cookie sales are not gonna happen much here. we are very limited to who and where we can sell cookies. We cannot go door to door like in the states

I don't have a girl, but DS is in boy scouts and his dues are only about $50 for the year (maybe less...can't quite remember). Field trips and other activities are seperate, but I prefer that because we never know if we're able to go or not so I'd rather not pay for that stuff up front.

$30 a month seems steep to me. Although, like I said, I don't have a girl and even though I use to be a girl scout, that was...well...A LOT of years ago. lol

I was a GS many many years ago and did not know it cost so much now. That is a shame. We had girls in our troop who never could have come if you had to pay so much. I know we paid dues, but it was not much at all back then.

My daugher is in cadettes. I paid her $12 reg fee and $54 for her dues for the year. We could have paid $6 per month, but I chose to pay in a lump sum. The troop has some money left from last years cookie and candy sales. They are also doing both this year. Snacks are provided by the girls. They take turns each meeting. My DD's turn was this week and we'll go again sometime next month. Generally the troop pays for everthing unless they are doing an overnight trip or something. Then the parents of the girls who choose to participate will pay something to help defray the costs. Leaders and volunteer parents do the driving. We love scouts!
