    We have a 5th and 4th grader. Now, they are doing 5th grade together. But, if I do SOS can two children be put on one?

    If not and I choose to put one in 4th and one in 5th am I able to use the 5th grade again the following year?

    We are thinking of changing from BJU to SOS just because of the amount of time I have to school my kids. I want to be able to enjoy them too. Oh, to be a new homeschooling parent! :eek::?

    All pros and cons please!

    For SOS you can use that for multiple children. The only thing is do you have multiple computers? Each child would need their own computer to do this if that is all you are doing for them otherwise they will be fighting over it. You can use the same software for multiple years. I used it this past year with sd who was doing computer math. It is pretty easy to work with.

    I'm not sure if you can put two kids in the same grade at the same time or not (with one copy of the courses, I mean). You can absolutely reuse the courses with your other children in the years following. It's one of the main reasons I decided to go with SOS over curriculum like A Beka or BJU. I just couldn't see myself spending all that money only to have to return the courses at the end of the year and buy them all over again for my other two kids. Being able to keep and reuse the curriculum was a huge selling point for me with SOS.

    I'm currently waiting on the two courses I've already ordered to arrive in the mail, and I'll be ordering two more next week.

    Oh, if you do decide to go with SOS, it's cheaper to buy it from Christianbook.com than from the AOP site. Besides the cheaper price on the courses, they only wanted $7.50 to ship (for me, to Canada) compared to the AOP site that wanted to charge me $75 for shipping!

    thanks for the input guys. I do have more than one computer. We have a normal computer and a lap top. Believe it or not my dog chewed the cord to the "normal" computer tonight instead of his chew toy! He was under the desk while we were looking things up and now our key pad and mouse doesn't work. Who can figure!

    You can use it multiple times, and at the same time with multiple kids. A neighbor and I actually share a copy of one subject, and I do not need the disk to run the program.
    You may want to compare the prices at the AOP site, too, as they run sales quite often I've found.
    SOS is really a good program - I just wish all the subjects were as fun as the Spanish. :)

    We're actually using the same version for two kids right now. We have two different computers for them. We learned a couple of years ago that trying to share one computer was very frustrating for everyone involved. (;

    Yes, we do have two different computers going on. Loving every minute of SOS! Now, that I think I have everything figured out that I need to know anyways. My newist find is to put in a field trip day and to cancel out the school work for the day without loosing my 180 day status that I need for ps. I am so very happy

    Just remember that it is not 180 days in NY but instead 900 hrs (the equivalent of 180 days). It is trickey they way they write that.

    I am glad SOS is working out for your family!!

    when you set it up make one be the Home computer and one be the networked or client. That way if one computer goes down the other can back up the first one.
    It can also make it so you could access both computers for grading and such, so check into that too!

    I have to ask the tech guy why my old ones wont leave the computer, other than that I have not had too much trouble with set ups.
