I was at the library today with a lovely list of picture books I wanted to read to the boys. Several had to be ordered from other libraries, and while she was placing those orders she asked me why I chose these books. I explained that we are homeschoolers and that I wanted some good read alouds for them. She finished my order and then showed me a reference book they have there, I was in picture book heaven! It's called A to Zoo, and basically it's a topical index of picture books...any topic you want to cover you look up and it gives you books that cover that topic! I was jealous! I came home and told hubby about it and he ordered me a used copy from Amazon! I seriously love my library!

Fantastic! Our library can be really helpful. Especially, if we get someone who likes their job. :)

Likes their job is the important part. Some of those old ladies can be pretty grouchy. But the young ones and the men usually are the most helpful to me.

That's great! Our local library has very great books where I get my kids their learning materials. My kids love to learn, so I try to get them the best books with the best material our library has to offer. Of course they are a little to old for picture books, but my daughter loves art. Usually when she can't come up with an idea of what to paint of make, she'll look at books. There is this wonderful picture book which my daughter commonly uses, it's called: Dresden in the Ages of Splendor and Enlightenment: Eighteenth-Century Paintings from the Old Masters Picture Gallery. Its very detailed, and marvelously illustrated, and it gives the description of every painting and picture in the book, It's a great source for her artistic inspirations!

Yes, I was certainly impressed with that librarian. Usually the children's librarians aren't very helpful, but this lady was the best! I've seen the book on their refrence shelf, but I never knew what it was and never thought to open it. After that day I will be sure to open it from now on! :)

you can find a library thats out of town. We have a library in town, but its often closed, so we usually go to the one thats in another district.
