Hello! Just wanted to introduce myself! I live in Maine. I have a dh who is currently in transition (to a high paying job ). We have a hobby homestead, and I am a college student as well. We have two children. Our ds is 9 and in ps. He does very well there, and his teachers love him. Our dd is 6 and we pulled her from the same school last week. She has struggled since the beginning, and despite being bright she can't seem to learn there. After repeatedly telling them what dd needs, and asking for accomodation, and having ps blame something else (including me), we gave up and decided she'd had enough. Our curriculum is very eclectic, although we have sit down and work times (which my dd needs right now). She is an auditory learner, so repeats everything she's doing outloud, and a very step-by-step kid. Some of the second may chill as she gains confidence but for now, she needs the specifics for everything she does. I've found her very bright and capable. Nice to meet you!
Welcome! We pulled our ds (now 14) out when he was 6 for similar reasons. He also has Tourette's Syndrome. He was in a pull-out gifted program in kindergarten, but suddenly when his "behavior" was not "good", they didn't consider him gifted anymore. But I digress... Again, welcome!!!!
Welcome! I got the blame for my dd's learning problems from the school experts, too. Don't you love that?
