Since I have a grandson celebrating a first Christmas I am in baby mode. His brother is only 1 and a half. Youngest will get a rocking horse rattle and a ducky bib/binky holder. Older brother is getting a blanket with a stuffed animal cut in half and attached at opposite corners. I also am in the process of tack/quilting a print into a floor play mat. It has buildings, roads, railroad, and racetrack on it. Am going to pick up a couple of cars and a tow truck to go with it.

For son-in-law I am thinking of crocheting an afghan with a pocket at the bottom for his feet. Made one for DH 4 years ago and he won't let go of it. I can knock it out in a week. Have been crocheting so long that I can almost do it in my sleep, lol.

Dollar Tree has baskets and a lot of small tin items. Along with some insulated cups and some expensive looking/individually wrapped candies. So I plan to stock up and make up baskets to fit the person. I will include some home baked, and some canned items. My mom always made pumpkin bread in cans, then wrapped them in cellophane, tied with a pretty bow. I think I will make that and some apple chunk cake the same way.

Everyone else will get an ornament that I have covered in a beaded drape. I have been making them throughout the year and have a lot. I wanted to sell them, but it just didn't work out for me to do a craft show this year. I will still have a lot left. Guess I will save what I don't use and try next year.

If I can I will try to take pictures of what I have and post them. Can't wait to hear what others come up with too! :)

Here’s something super easy to make for the kiddies: a road/highway system for playtime.

Directions: Find a piece of fabric (preferably cheap remnant) which resembles the surface of a road (black vinyl, naugahyde, etc., but use something which won’t fray/need sewing). Cut fabric to manageable sizes (My main lengths of road will be about five feet, with the width of the road about nine inches. I’ll also cut some double widths for super highways, and half width/lengths for side or one way streets.). Add white, one-inch duct type tape to mimic solid or dotted driving lines. Other colors of tape can be used for embellishments (paint would work too).

    Roll for easy storage.

I found some cute toy vehicles at the dollar shop, and the girls already have suitable blocks to make buildings in a town.

I got this idea from a toy in the playroom at the Fernbank in Atlanta. Our family loved this museum!!!

We are making personalized candy apples, by crushing up each persons fav candy And smothering the apples in them. Than I will type up some cute "you are original" tags with something nice about that person.

The apples sound yummy. You could make carmel apples too. I love all these ideas!

I honestly haven't even thought of Christmas gifts this year yet because I have been focused on getting ready for our new arrival.

I will have to keep an eye on this thread though because I like some of the gift ideas that seem simple enough that I can do them even at 8 months pregnant.

That's a good idea; all three of mine could use them!

Jackie, I made my own pattern using a pair of their currently fitting pants and some newspaper. Then I traced it onto some really cute monster fleece, which needs little sewing because of the nature of the fleece. I made them all three matching PJ bottoms. Basically the sewing is simple just sew up the leg seams (fabric right sides together) then turn one leg right side out and put it inside the other leg, sew up the u shaped side, trim the stitches in the middle and then just hem the legs and sew a casing for elastic, put the elastic in and that's that. I can make one pair in about 20 minutes.
