okay ~ what do you all make for christmas?

cookies, squares, loafs (loaves??), cakes, pies... ???

i'd love to have some new recipes ~ i'm not exactly little miss suzy in the kitchen, but i'm feeling a little ambitious this year.

(oh hey - i have a big freezer in the basement and it would be great to make stuff up ahead & save it down there. if your treat doesn't care to be frozen, please mention.)

Thx for posting this question it reminded me I need to get cracking on the Christmas cake it has to age for a few weeks.
So I also make English Christmas Bread- the tradition is you put the first slice of it on your table on Christmas Eve and you won't go hungry in the new year. And so far it has held true :)
I also love to bake cookies galore. Unfortunately the waistline is saying knock it off lol.
Since the kids are small I try to do some they can help with to make it more fun.
And a couple of years we have attempted the homemade gingerbread homes. I really need a really hard dry recipe though as mine tends to be too soft to make good walls.

ahem. i don't suppose any of you want to share recipes for those tasty sounding things?

i'm sorry your mom has hurt you like that. :(

if you really enjoy baking and taking treats to people ~ what about taking some plates filled with goodies to places like the firehouse or police station? i bet they'd love the treats, but also the fact that people were thinking about them.

I make a cheese cake for either Thanksgiving or Christmas and lots of cookies.
    Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookies

Double Chocolate snowquakes http://www.countryliving.com/recipefinder/double-chocolate-snowquakes-3438 This recipie exactly!

Chocolate covered cherry cookies http://cookierecipes101.com/chocolatecherrycookie.htm I'm pretty sure this is the same recipie I use.

Peanut Butter cookies ( 1C peanutbutter, 1C sugar, 1 egg; combine, drop spoonfuls, flatten with fork, bake at 350 till done)

7 Layer Bars (In a 9x13 foil lined pan, melt 1/4c butter; layer the following ingredients in the order given: 1c grahm cracker crumbs, 1c coconut shreds, 12oz chocolate chips, 12oz butterscotch chips, 1c sweetened condensed milk, 1c chopped pecans; bake at 350 for 30 min. cool, remove from pan using foil, cut into squares)*probably won't freeze

Puppy Chow ( 7-10 cups rice chex cereal, 12 oz choc. chips, 1 stick butter, 1c peanut butter, 2c powdered sugar; melt chocolate chips and butter in microwave, mix in peanut butter. Place cereal in really big bowl, mix cereal and choc. mixture till well coated. Put powdered sugar in a large paper bag, shake cereal mix (in batches if neccessary) to coat, let cool on waxed paper. *probably won't freeze well)
