My dd (11) read the American Girl book "The Care and Keeping of You". It was a great option for her. She was an early developer like me, so it was nice to have a "guide" for her and be there for questions. I don't know how much help DH is going to be with my son since he works such long hours, so does anyone have any suggestions for similar books for my DS? He's only 8 so we have a little time... but I'd like to be prepared. Edie
I don't know either, but I'll be watching this as well. My ds is only 9 but he's the same height as I am and some days when the light is just right I swear he's growing a mustache
We did the Sonlight health science and it had a whole based on body, sex, drugs, etc. I can't remember the names of the books but it was really good and covered alot.
Seeing as how I only have girls, I haven't used either of the books below. I do know people who have used these and thought they were great. Both books have good reviews. They might be worth checking into. LR What’s Going on Down There? Answers to Questions Boys Find Hard to Ask The American Medical Association Boy’s Guide to Becoming a Teen
I wish they had a boys version of American Girl books, but I'll be looking into those two titles above too. Thanks!
Sonlight does and it is a really good book. It covers it all! When I say all I mean all, so you might want to preread it a bit. It lets them know of the changes to expect and the things to expect during those changes so they are not ashamed/think something is wrong with them when it happens. The Boy's Body book: Everything you need to know for growing up YOU Almost 12 (not really only for boys, but still a good book)
Thanks, Jo Anna! The first one looks similar to the American Girl book. It may be what I'm going to need!
