That video describes most of the mega churches around here, and some of the others as well. Personally I don't care for contemporary worship, but that's just my opinion.
Growtavation! Ugh. So sad. I really don't want to make anybody mad. There may be people on here who go to that kind of Church. I personally am worried about where this is leading. Throw off all the traditional trappings of Church, as if what our brothers and sisters in Christ have been doing for centuries is wrong, suddenly out-dated. We went through a church search back in May. We weren't being picky about any one denomination, but we wanted traditional worship and strong theology. It is almost non-existent in our area.
What perfect timing! I have been struggling with being distracted by our churches ever more contemporary worship style---the guitar riffs, the dramatic expressions of the singers, the people who get so into the drum beat that they look like they're at a disco, the repetitive verses that seem shallow compared to the hymns I sang as a child. I've been working on my own attitude, because I know the people leading it are sincere, but I find myself gawking at the spectacle (complete with music video in the background of someone twirling in the tall grass with arms outstretched) and forgetting that it's time to worship. Anyway, this video sums up how I have been feeling.
