Here it is December 1st and I STILL haven't decided how long of a break I want to take for Christmas.

So I was wondering, when do you take Christmas break?

I've considered starting our break next week, or the next, or not until the week of Christmas or following the PS calendar....I just don't know....

So what do you do for Christmas break?

I just filed my attendance report for Nov-we have 85 (out of 180) days under our belt.....

We have so many days off here and there so I think I will school around the holidays as much as possible. That said the entire month of December we are devoting to learning in a fun way as much as we can :)

I have a son in college and another in public high school. They both will be home the week before and after Christmas, so I'm going to take a break then. I've decided that the week before that will not be a regular school week and will be studies and activities related to Christmas.

Mine don't do well with long breaks, so we'll probably just take the 23-27 off. And then repeat the days for new years too. We take a day off here and there as needed so it isn't like they don't get breaks- except for summer we do stop for ~2 months mid June- the end of August - then.

Last year we took the entire month of December off. This year dd7's last day of 2nd grade will be the same day dd14 gets out for ps holiday - Dec 17th. I think dd14 goes back to ps around Jan 4th. I am going to enjoy the holidays and then take time to sit down and plan out dd7's entire 3rd grade year and order curriculum. I guess we will probably start 3rd grade around mid January or when my curriculum arrives.

Carl is off the week before Christmas, and the week after, so that's our offical Christmas Break. But we'll be slowing down before that!

I don't have a set plan, in fact haven't really thought about it yet. I think DH's company is shut down from Dec. 20 to January 3, so I have a feeling that will be our break as well. We have been taking too many random days off and I really need to get us more organized and stick to our plans.

We will be following the ps schedule. Makes it easier when you have an older child in public school and 2 younger in home school.

I'll most likely follow the ps calendar as well (with an older one in ps it makes it easier) BUT it is dependent on what we get done. I have a list of things to cover this month, and if we manage to get them done completely beforehand, we'll take a longer break.

We are taking a day off next week and then 2 the following week. We will probably start our official break the week of 12/20 and then start back after New Years. I plan on doing most of our baking the week of Christmas and really just relax for a change.

I am planning on only taking off the week between Christmas and New Years. School for us doesn't take long during the day, so I don't see a point in taking lots of time off. Plus I want to be done with my schooling goals for 2nd grade by early May so we can do an extended stay out of state before the summer crazyness starts.

I usually take off the the whole week before and the whole week after because my husband takes off work. This year, I'm going to TRY to get three days in before we break - so we'll take the 23rd through Jan 2nd off. I hope.

i had to shorten our vaca because of some other days off we had this fall. I like to be solidly in the "80's" in our count of days before breaking for Christmas.

I'd planned on 2 weeks at the end of Dec, but I've changed it to just 1 week.

My oldest doesn't do well coming back from long breaks, so I plan to only take the week of Christmas completely off. We are planning to do a lot more fun learning though this month. She will still work out of her math book since she is behind in math and then we'll spend most of the rest of the time playing educational games and reading.

I have always done the if we make ti to the 5th life pack we take off for until Jan, well not doing life paks I am a bit confused ... so we will got from 36divided by 2, no wait, if I have ten months of school and I take that in half , that would be end of January that I should be half way through.... so counting three weeks in January, and two weeks in December... I would say the third week we should be free .... we are at lesson 10 out of 36 half of that is?
18, so if we do up to 15 before holiday? Yikes, I may be a bit longer than I wanted ... thats 5 lessons already,
but I will probably take the week before and after Christmas so whatev er that is
    lol

I think the beauty of homeschooling is not having to follow a set schedule. I pretty much school until something comes up and I need to take a couple days off. My girls are done with school so early in the day that they have most of the day free as it is.
