Ok, being that I am fairly new and not much of a computer wiz, I need to ask this silly little question. What in the world does all this stand for: dh, ds, dd, !?!?!? Can someone break all the lingo down for me so I know what the abbreviations mean? I have gotten a few of them for common sense sake. Help me with this foriegn language you all speak!

The ones I know are- dd- dear daughter
    ds- dear son
dh- dumb husband.... no, dear husband!
MIL, FIL, SIL,DIL- mother, father, son and daughter in law.
    BTW-by the way
ROFL- rolling on the floor laughing
    LOL- laughing out loud

Does anyone remember that long list of abbreviations someone posted at abcteach?

I wish I could remember all the curriculum abbreviations.

Here's some of the curriculm abbreviations you'll see:

    MOH...Mystery of History
    CGC...Considering God's Creation
    FIAR...Five in a Row
    LLATL...Learning Language Arts Through Literature
    STOW...Story of the World
    WTM...The Well-Trained Mind

Those are the ones you see most often on this board. There might be a few others, but usually we will mention it by the title first time and then use its abreviation.

Oh, I have also refered to my DSS...Dear (or DARNED!!!) Step Sons. And a number after it could refer to the age or birth order of the child mentioned... for me, I have a dd1, dd2, and ds3. That means my first two children are girls, and my "baby" is a boy. Or if I'm mentioning something about my daughter where his age is important, I might say DD8.

(No, it's not that confusing! You'll catch on!)

    hs...homeschool
    ps...public school
    HSLDA...Homeschool Legal Defense Association
    AO....Alpha Omega
    CLP...Christian Liberty Press
    CBD...Christian Book Distributors (www.cbc.com)
yo...year old (7yodd....7 year old daughter)
    MHO....my humble opinion
    IMHO...in my humble opinion

I'll see if I can think of any more not already mentioned. Hope this helps!

I moved this to the "Question and Tips" forum so you can refer to it and add more abbreviations as needed. :)

Other than the ones mentioned above-the most common ones I see (online in general) are:

    PP -previous post or poster
OP - original post or poster
BTDT - been there done that
    WJW - wow. just. wow.
    OMG - oh my gosh
    WTH - what the heck
    TMI - too much info
    IRL - in real life
TIA - Thanks in advance (like at the end of a post asking for help)

If you run across one you don't know-just ask in the thread it's used in or google it http://www.netlingo.com/acronyms.php

    :)

Can someone tell me what TTC means...or maybe it was TCC. I can't remember. Do either one of those mean anything.

I know that DH and DS and DD mean dear hubby, dear daughter, and dear son but what does DC mean. Thanks!
