My friend had her baby this morning and the baby is having oxygen issues. She was 2 weeks overdue and the doctors don't think it's her lungs. She's fine while she's sleeping but when she starts crying or moving around the levels go down. They are thinking that she could possibly have a heart defect so for precautionary measure they sent her to Lubbock. She should be there by now. Please pray for this baby and the family. God is mighty and even if she does have a heart issue God can heal her!! We serve a MIGHTY God!!! There's NOTHING too big for him. Thanks for your prayers.
Talked to my friends hubby and the baby is going to be ok. She "may" have to have surgery but right now the doctors aren't too concerned. Apparently the valve of her heart that stays open when a baby is in the womb didn't close. It usually closes on it's own after birth. The baby came home a week after she was born and isn't scheduled to go back to the doctor until later this week. Thanks for your prayers!!
That sounds like an ASD or VSD heart defect. Its actually pretty common and a lot of times if the hole is small enough they can close on their own by the time the child is 2-3 yrs old. If they let her go home then I wouldn't worry about it, they will keep an eye on the child and she will most likely have no restrictions and live a full life. If she does need surgery in the future, its pretty simple. They go in through the groin and put a gortex patch over the hole. My daughter has a heart defect and was originally diagnosed with an ASD so I did a lot of research on it. It turned out not to be an ASD, but a different issue with her pulmoary valve.
