So I just won All About Spelling. What I was wondering is the phonogram cards, the http://www.all-about-spelling.com/phonogram-cards.html I didn't win those, but wondering if anyone who has used the program thinks they are worth the $12 investment (as I may ask MIL to buy them for Christmas???)

    Phonogram cards

Did you win the Starter Kit only? If so, you'll need a Level. Each Level includes a Teacher's Manual and a Student Material Packet, which includes all the various cards needed for that level that weren't already included in previous levels. So, Level 1 has lots of cards to start, level 2 adds a few more, etc. If you don't start with Level 1, you may want the phonogram cards set. However, the phonogram CD that is included with the Starter Kit may be sufficient. You just won't have cards to manually do review.

    Yes.

Yes, you will get the phonogram cards and also sound, key, and word cards for level 1. You will have everything you need to begin, except a file box. I started with index card boxes, but I moved up to a 1.6 liter Really Useful Box for each kid so that I could have room to keep extra cards as my children moved up in levels. We continue to review some things from previous levels, and I make a card whenever my child misspells one of the extra words that isn't on a card, so the stack gets too thick for a 3 x 5 index card box. The ChatterBee Group for each level has a PDF for blank word cards, so I use them to print on green card stock to match the preprinted word cards (although almost any color would do). Many AAS users purchase a magnetic white board to keep their letter tiles on so that they don't have to alphabetize them before each spelling lesson. I don't have a board. I make my kids alphabetize them, since it's good practice.
