I have to say that I am one to buy most any educational toy out there hoping my kids get something out of there freeplay time. I love free stuff but most of it seems to be a little boring for my crowd. Anyway, saw lots of great reviews for the new Leapfrog Leapster handheld game. I found a great deal on it plus three games and bought it for classroom use. The kids absolutely love it! I don't think they have put it down. The games I bought were the Baseball Math, Spongebob something and a Kindergarten game. DD really voiced how she loved it and said it was like a GameBoy (except it's all learning and not just free play). DS loved it and could do lots of things (eventhough he's 3).

Anyway, wanted to post this in case you were wondering about it for maybe a Christmas gift. It really is great and I would certainly recommend it over a GameBoy because of it's educational aspect. I guess it could be a nice alternative for someone who really wants a GameBoy and the parents didn't want to get them one. Just my opinion.

I've been looking at the v-tech v-smile game. It seems really good for learning but yet its like a playstation at the same time. And it's only $50!! If you go to v-techs website you can even play a demo of it. You can't buy it at walmart yet but I'm sure it will be in stores before christmas, although you can buy it online right now at amazon, kb toys and etoys.

Amazon.com is having a sale right now. You can get the Leapster for $69.99. You can also go to leapfrog.com and get a $10 mail-in rebate. (The rebate can be used anywhere.)

My kids have one and they love it. They are 7 and 10. My nephew loves to play with it too. He is 3. They are supposed to be coming out with new games soon. My DD got hers for Christmas last year and they are still playing with it. We definately do not regret getting this.

Kris...I think the game says for ages 4-8 but the range is a little greater than that. My kids are 3 and 7 and I see them playing with it for some time to come. I got mine at Amazon.com. When I got it they were having a big buy2get1free sale. Somehow, I got 53 dollars off and it should have been about $25 off. I lucked out. I went back yesterday? to get three more games and I wasn't allowed another deal. I think it is a one time deal. Still, I got a great deal on one Leapster and three games!
