and you don't have to teach social studies and history in the same year. or you could divide it up into terms. We did that one year. Or you can merge them into one.

    Yes, remember this! :)

When my son was 6 he was already reading well, so we just did
    ~handwriting practice (HWOT)
    ~math lessons
    ~unit study (everything else!)

    That's it. I think he's done pretty well. ;)

He's 9 now and he does
    ~math lessons
~Primary Language Lessons (all encompassing LA that takes 10-30 min/day)
    ~Latin/Prima Latina (by his request)
~spends about 2 hours filling his own time with educational/learning activities/reading about what he's interested in
~read alouds (I read to him or we listen to an audio book together for 1 hr./day)

We still haven't done any formal history or science, but he's constantly learning. :) I learned long ago not to compare too much. They are all different, and it is a huge blessing to be able to give them custom educations instead of the conveyor belt kind. :)

We unschool-so your list looks like a lot to me :D ....but that's homeschooling, we can each do it differently and it isn't wrong if it works for our family....

    Here's what we've been doing:
READING: We do phonics and I read to him.
LA: I make him write some, but not much. He won't write just to write (copywork) I think we'll start All About Spelling Next week see how he likes it...
MATH: We use manipulatives and real life for math (very few worksheets at all)
SS:....well-I have to work on that-he was taking a SS class at co-op but now he's not so I'm thinking state history-I was hoping for lots of field trips but money issues mean I'll have to rethink that and come up with something else...not sure what....
Science: is a CONSTANT in our house. We do a TON of formal and informal science. 24/7 science here! LOL
ARTS AND CRAFTS: we fit in with other subjects as we can-which is a lot cause he's young
HEALTH/PE: Just outside play and talk about health as it comes up in daily life and we do ABeka health some days but it's more a of a confidence booster than anything cause it's stuff he already knows...

We don't do music but we do Home ec (cause he likes to cook) and life skills.

IF what you are doing is working for you and your child, then don't worry about what others do, if they do more or less or the same or different, it's all good. :)
