Today is even colder than yesterday, and no we didn't get the kerosene heaters fixed for school. DH is in bed with bronchitis, and I can't do it by myself. So I'm going to meet Ben at school about 1030, and we'll pack up our books and spend the rest of the day at the library today!
We take snow half days. We will do some studies and then they go out and play in the snow for a while. When they come in because they are too cold then we warm up and do some more studies. They will go back and forth like that all day.
Sometimes Sometimes we do. If dh stays home, we don't get much, if anything, done. Ds#2 has online TPS courses, and they go on no matter what, so he has to "attend" them. We don't get snow here often, so my kids usually want to go out in it, and it's such an unusual pleasure, that I don't like for them to miss it.
why not just give them a long recess or a PE in the snow for a while then back in for school. the one who is not in school today ca be a tutor for the day or get some home work done so she wont be behind? I have two home and one schooling today because college courses start back on the 22nd here.
Oh yes, we do homeschool when snow is coming down! we take breaks to showel the driveway, and DS runs outside as soon as we done. But it is a good time for cuddly learning, since we usually cancel all other outside of the house activities!
I would have LOVED for DS8 to play in the snow, but he fractured his foot last week and is now in a cast for 3 weeks DD who was off was a great help, though. The two of them played games, worked together on a Bible scripture puzzle, and had fun going through the house on a scavenger hunt. I really wish she would choose to homeschool too! @ Lindina...I hope things warm up for you soon!
AW poor guy, but at least its now not in summer, mine hurt his back when he was ten in the summer, not a good time lol Glad all worked together for good.
We try not to take days off for snow. We want to be finished before public school gets out. Our grandson, who homeschools with us, takes work home if they are calling for snow so he can stay home with his mom who is a public school teacher. It works for us!
