Hello! Firstly, I don't know what my title has to do with my intro except that I live in Texas, but it sounded good! Here's a little about me...My name is Amy. I'm a stay at home mom. I've been married for three years this April. My ds, Dax, is sixteen months old. I've been trying to prepare myself for homeschooling about a year now.(...Which now I think I should have started three years ago.) Like everyone else on here, I'd like to share ideas, experiences, and good resource finds. But expect me to be more of a reciever than a giver at this point. :)
I just started looking into early education resources since my son has moved his interest to the alphabet and stuff like that. Previously, we've just been having fun exploring the world and all the cool stuff you can do as a human...run, scream, wiggle your fingers, you have fingers! Now he knows a few letters of the alphabet, some animals and sounds, matching colors, and a few body parts. We've been doing the starfall animated ABC's and he absolutely loves it. Any one have any other ideas, links, etc. for this age/level?? I hope to make some new friendships and inspire/be inspired.

    Amy

    Welcome!

I recommend all the Leapfrog stuff and plain old wooden (no batteries) toys you can get your hands on, but even at 16 months, you can include him in things around the house (like stirring a bowl in the kitchen or sweeping up messes with a little hand-held broom). There's a lot more to early learning than ABC's. Teach love, responsibility, respect, and anything else you'd like to see by the time he's 25. :)

    Welcome!

The best teaching tool right now is play. Play, play, play, all day long! Make everything a game.

Welcome Amy! I am also in the great state of Texas.
At 16 months old if he is ready to learn go for it! My boys still love Starfall. I simply read a lot of books when my boys were that young. And like 2littleboys said I did learning in everything we did.

    Welcome!
We lived not far from you (in Keller) for about 3 years. We spent alot of time on Eagle Mtn. Lake while we were there.
But, that was 2 states and about 8 years ago.
    Best wishes!
