Merry Meet!!!! So happy to have found a place where like minded individuals gather. My name is Kelly and I'm new here. I have an 11 y/o daughter who has been homeschooled for a couple years now. I think it was the best decision we ever made but I'm also aware of a few drawbacks as well. I can't wait to meet you all and hear your stories. What brought you here and how you came to homeschool.

    Bright Blessings......Kelly

Welcome Kelly, glad you are here, it's a great place to be. This is our 4th yr to HS and like you, it was one of "best decision" we were ever forced to make, we didn't start off HSing because we really wanted to, but now we really want to.

Welcome! I have a dd11 and a ds14. We have homeschooled for the better part of 9 years. My kids did some hard time in ps while we built our house. ;)

I'm not far from TO. Couple hours. I'm in Cayuga just north of Hamilton. Just moved here from Peterborough area. So homesick. So happy to see all the Canucks here!!

Yes, not too far. We go out that way sometimes - Brantford and Port Dover area to visit family. Have you hooked up with the Hamilton homeschool group?

I'm not a Canuck though - just a transplant. But my kids and dh are :)

LOLOLOLOLOLOL....a transplant!!! too funny. No, did find one in Haldimand tho. I've heard the Brantford association is better. I've found the groups clicky and predominately faith based which isn't for me.

    Check this one out: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HamiltonHomeschool/

I haven't been to any of their activities, but keep an ear open because we do head that way often. They seem to have more going on than we do here. I haven't noticed a faith-based slant or not though. You can join and view previous emails. Most of what I have seen are organized field trips.

Actually we likely don't have too much more then you. It's the dampness we notice more being right on Lake Superior. Unseasonably warm for the second year in a row. I like it :) Southern Ontario is also nice though. Love the change you notice in the greens throughout Ontario.

    Nice to meet you!

    I'm Jen, mom to a 16yod and 14yos. I've always homeschooled.

I can't imagine being any further north than my Maine. . .I'm cold enough here this winter! Last week I couldn't take the snow anymore, so I had to start planning my square-foot gardens for the summer to distract myself!

I love square foot gardening. What are you planning on growing? I was born in Maine and am now in Ontario. Maine is actually a bit further north than where I live now.
