My boys are still young but I'm looking to prepare and plan for HomeSchooling them both. Do you know of any good HS type books that provide information, stories, tips etc? Thank you.

I've always loved "You Can Teach Your Child Successfully" by Ruth Beechick, along with her "3 R's" books (now condensed into one but used to be 3 small paperbacks). I learned a lot when I was first considering homeschooling from those books! :)

The Homeschool Handbook by Mary Griffith, absolutely a must read for a newbie!

My favorite are Cathy Duffy's books, especially "100 Top Picks..." You can also read a lot on her website which has updates since the 100 Top Picks was written.

Me too! LOL We're such homeschoolers aren't we?! hahaha

My favorites are Christian Unschooling: growing your children in the freedom of Christ. and Better late than early

But I say read everything homeschooling you can get your hands on! Explore all philosophies. From school-at-home to radical unschooling. Most people find their groove somewhere in between those two extremes.

I second the "Homeschooling Handbook" by Mary Griffin. I still refer back to this one time and time again.

    My all time favorite is:

I Saw The Angel in the Marble".

It has some information about how to homeschool, but more importantly it has information on the heart of homeschooling. I had let a friend borrow it and she wanted to know if she could buy it--I had to say, "No." I wasn't trying to be rude or anything, but I knew that I needed that book to refer to whenever I started thinking like the public schools or thinking that maybe I am failing my son. I have read and re-read some of the articles to let them sink in fully.

I will also refer you to a website that helped me when I was facing burnout and stress:

    http://www.homeschooloasis.com/article_chart.htm

Barbara Shelton also has written a book with a lot of this information. It is geared towards high school, but a lot of the stuff can be applied to any age. It is called:

Senior High: A Home Designed Form-U-La

There is another good book called:

Wisdom's Way of Learning by Marilyn Howshall

I am currently reading a book called Home Schooling A Family's Journey by Gregory and Martine Millman. I am loving it because it is simply the story of their homeschool journey and what they learned along the way. At the time they wrote it they had three college age and older and three still being taught at home. It is always nice to hear about those who have successfully homeschooled kids all the way through.
