This one is the europe one cause we are studying there this week but there are the rest of the regions as well.
They have 3 levels, so you can be challenged. I beat ds the first try, cause I kept missing Moraco lo. its soooo tiny!

Thanks for the info! I might have learned more if they'd had fun things like this when I was a kid.

Thank you, I'll have to try this for DS. He has really been balking on the lessons lately. Maybe this is the change-up he needs. At least for a break in routine.

I hate to say this, but they are missing a country: Kosovo. Mind you, with the constant emergence of new countries, I can understand why.

To my knowledge, Kosovo and Vatican City are the only two countries that are not members of the United Nations.

Incidentally, have your children ever used the CIA World Factbook? It's a tremendous resource.

When I put together a course on Citizenship in the World, I learned some other interesting facts. Did you know, for example, that several countries have three separate embassies in Rome? One is for Italy, the second is for Vatican City - but you'll have to look up the third. :) It's an interesting piece of history, going back to the days of the Crusades.

Okay I am looking for printable maps of Europe today.. anyone have one that is clear as to all the countries (STEVE?) and I need to print a copy of both labeled and blank to fill in types... I dont like enchanted learning's style I want clean clear easy to read and easy to find to label.
Space to label is okay but I will have ds draw a line to side of map to write in names myself if it does not fit with places such as Monaco that are tiny!

I'll take time later to look into maps. If you think Monaco is small, you've seen San Marino, Andorra, and Liechtenstein on a map, right? :)

but yes I want to be able to see those too!
I found a few and will post the web sites here later but sure could use anymore you could find!
I am looking for info on those tiny places too.. I'd like to point out a few unknown places to the kids to give them ideas for their projects.

They are all tiny states, just like Monaco. What amazes me is that these countries are allowed to participate in sports events. Imagine the soccer team from Monaco playing against Germany? In the European championships, though, they do exactly this.

    Andorra: 84,825
    Liechtenstein: 35,236
    San Marino: 31,817
    Monaco: 30,539

Wow, I didn't think of that what a cool way to explain size of countries and population differences though too!
I think I am going to be doing a lot of writing today for additives for the packets I am putting together for printing tomorrow. I got my letter from the Missionary in Poland, have one coming from Hungary too.

Some countries have three embassies in Rome: one for Italy, one for Vatican City, and the other for the Sovereign Military Order of Malta (which is nothing to do with the country of Malta).
