Does anyone have any experience with whiteboard paint? You know, the kind of paint you put on part of a wall and then you can you dry erase markers like you would for a whiteboard. My girls are interested in having in done in their bedroom and I want to know if it actually works. Will they be able to erase and reuse the whiteboard many times or will it eventually look yucky with faint traces of previous pictures/messages.

    TIA,
    Karen

I'm sorry I'm no help on the paint, but I wanted to offer up an alternative in case the paint gets bad reviews. If you purchase a sheet of tile board (used in shower construction) at Lowes or Home depot, they will cut it to whatever size you like. The actual boards are 4x8, I believe. We have one in our former school room and it works like a dream. It only cost a few dollars (really) and it's the PERFECT white board. It cleans like a dream, too. Just too a few dry wall screws to anchor it and it's been hanging on the wall for almost 4 years.

We put up a whole sheet of the board Amie is talking about. We got ours at Lowe's too. It works great, but sometimes needs a good cleaning to get "ghost" marks off. I just spray it with dry erase board cleaner and use a dry cloth and it looks like new. We love it. I have never heard of the paint, but I know my girls would love having a wall in their rooms painted so they could mark on it. If you use it, I would love to know how it works out for you. Beth

I've used the paint. We had a blackboard in my Sunday School room when we bought the church, and I painted over it. I don't know if it's because of what's under it, but if I had to do it again, I'd buy a new whiteboard instead. The paint has lots of tiny hair-line cracks running through it. Maybe a wall would be different. Sometimes they're difficult to clean, even with the spray, but then so are white boards at times.

Edited to say: The paint has two seperate parts. You need to combine them, and then you need to USE IT ALL UP. You can't do part of it and then keep the rest until the next day.

I've heard of blackboard paint but never whiteboard paint! That's a new one on me. I have heard of sheet vinyl that you apply to the wall like contact paper that can be used like whiteboard. I've used that wallboard made for shower surrounds, and it works great! In fact I used to have a partial sheet that I painted on the back with just plain flat black spray paint (you could use flat green, or flat brown, or any other darker flat spray paint - several thin coats that you let dry completely in between) that worked just fine for a chalkboard. You can cut one sheet of shower-wall down if you like, to make one larger one for the wall and individual-size ones for each child...

If you google idea paint it will be the first site. It is expensive, but this is the orginal. I have wanted to try it, but have not been able to do so yet.
