Dear Lord !! I just opened my power bill and sadly we're in need of some serious prayer about it... it's a lot more than I can afford. I have no idea where the money will come from to pay it (and it if isn't paid before the end of March, they will disconnect our power).
Call them now and try to "make a deal" for a partial payment now and another one later. Most utilities are willing to work with you if you have been pretty much on target most of the time...
I've made arrangements on what I can give them but I couldn't make full arrangements on it all because when I get my training allowance this month, it's the last one I will receive so I can't commit to anything beyond the substantial payment I've already commited to and they're threatening to disconnect
Does your church - or any local church - have a Benevolence Fund? Our church has one and can give "some" $, but our fund is not big enough to cover getting it turned back on along with covering all the past due and current charges. This Fund is for helping not just our own church members, but also non-members. There's a limit, though, on how often the church will do this for one person, so that we can help another person the next month, and another the next, etc. Could you get groceries from a Food Bank, so that the money you would have spent on groceries, you could put on the utility bill?
Good idea about the food bank, Lindina. Electricity company here that we have allow us to make any sort of payment then they carry over the balance and tack on a $5 fee for the service.
The reason the power companies work with you so well here in the states is because it is illegal to turn someones power off during the winter. Therefore they are willing to work with whatever you can do. I think that you were given alot of really good advice from the ladies here.
Today we were supposed to have a substantial payment on the power bill and we're waiting on approval for something. I called the power company almost worried they were going to be hard nosed about it and threaten to disconnect on me... to my surprise they have extened it to May 9th :shock: (we'll have it paid in full by then as long as we get the approval next week). God works in mysterious ways... this is totally HIS doings because the power company has NEVER been this forgiving... a week or so, yes but a full month... NEVER before.
