I haven't been on here lately because we have moved and we are staying with friends so I don't always have time or access to the computer. However we are having some serious problems that I need all the prayer warriors for.

The Lord told both my dh and I that it was time to move at the beggining of the year so we prayed and ended up knowing where we were supposed to move. So, we looked for jobs, and a house...both of which fell into our laps and we were grateful for but Satan is trying to deter us and make us miserable...he has been attacking us ever since we starting thinking of moving.

Anyway, we were going to move ourselves, but with our tax return we decided that we should hire a moving company because if we didn't there would have been other complications that I won't get into right now. So, we hired a moving company to move our stuff and even though we have a signed contract they are not sticking to it. We paid them $2200 when they came to pick up our stuff and we were supposed to pay them $900 when they dropped it off. I called them yesterday to schedule the delivery date and they told me that I owe them $6000 or they won't deliver my stuff. My children are heartbroken and I have been crying not sure what to do. We don't have that kind of money. There are so many things that we can't afford to lose.

It took our whole tax return for the amount we signed for. I have a friend who is an attorney and he is looking over the contract but I need prayers from all of you who pray that we will get our stuff and only have to pay what we agreed on. I could handle it if we owed a little bit more, but not $6000.

Oh my goodness! That is a huge difference from what you agreed to pay. Did they say why so much? I will be praying it is just a mistake and you can get your belongings soon. So sorry this has happened. Beth

Praying your friend can find an answer for you and quickly. Remember when all seems lost it's only things. And although we attach memories to our things it's the people who matter. God bless.

MY! Why so much? I hope your lawyer can get them to release your stuff for the agreed upon amount. There has got to be something shady going on and they are trying to kidnap your stuff for ransom.

I can't imagine having to start from scratch furnishing a house. Not to mention losing the things that are irreplacable.

I do have paper work that shows what I owe...they are scamming me. They claim that because I took up way more space than they anticipated that I owe them more. The problem is we told them we need a 32 foot truck....they showed up with a 24 foot truck and everything fit. So we actually took up less space than they thought we would, but they say we took up more. Everything they say is a lie and every time they tell us something the story keeps changing.

I talked with our lawyer friend tonight and he says that after looking the contract over and then looking them up in some database that lawyers have access too...he found that their license has been revoked 3 times since December and that they have a very LONG history of scamming people out of tons of money and then delivering their stuff only for the people to find out all their stuff is broken.

He is going to call them tomorrow and tell them that they have no claim on our stuff and that they have to tell him where it is located. He is then going to tell them that of all the money we paid, they need to refund eveything except $500. They get to keep $500 because they moved it from my house and put it in a storage unit. I sure hope he gets through to them.

If everything works out we will need to then figure out how to pay to get my dh back there to get our stuff, load it on a truck and drive it back. So keep praying.

I think he will. People like these don't expect someone to call a lawyer. They expect people to be too upset to do anything but pay. A lawyer means serious business, because it means you're willing to put out BIG BUCKS to get it right. (He doesn't need to know it's a friend of yours!)

Ok, so here is what happened. Our attorney friend called and talked to them and they told him that they would "allow" us to owe less because he called. instead of $9000 they want $7200. They said they won't even tell us where our stuff is unless we pay them $1800 on top of what we have paid. Then they told him that we could negotiate less if we don't have him call and they deal directly with us.

In the mean time I have call the Federal transportation agency and they are working with us to help get us our stuff without having to pay anything else. They said that we will get our stuff but it might be awhile. It will be hard without our stuff for awhile but it will be doable.

Keep your prayers coming. I know the Lord is listening and everything will be ok in the end.

No. Tell them that you will NOT "negotiate" AT ALL. You have your contract, you have a lawyer, and you WILL take them to court. Plus, you will bring charges against THEM for theft, because that's what it amounts to!!!

Plus, you will bring charges against THEM for theft, because that's what it amounts to!!! And THEY can pay your attorney costs!!! Isn't it interesting how they are tryng to get rid of the lawyer!

And how did it go from them saying $6,000 in your first post to $9,000 to $7,2000?

I am so sorry this is happening. It is so sad that people try to take advantage of you like that. I pray that it all works out and doesn't take to long.

that is so sad. But, its happening all over. That is why its best to check everyone and everything closely.

You have paper work so you have everything. I agree with Jackie. Tell them no and you are filing charges and they can pay lawyer fees.

I agree that you need to go after them in court. Maybe a nice public lawsuit will shut them down for good.

Such a shame when people try to scam others. Thank goodness you had paperwork to back you up. I'm praying this will resolve quickly and for far less money:)

I would call every news station out in your area. Call the news paper too! I wonder if a law school is near you ....... maybe this would be a good pro-bono assignment for someone. .......... 2 lawyers must be better than one? ( not sure)....... I'd be loud about what is happening.

This is insane! Companies like that are giving honest guys a bad name. I would be terrified to trust a moving company after hearing what you are going through. I hope you can settle this soon and that your stuff is not ruined by these people.
