Hi! I just found this forum on the internet tonight. We have been homeschooling since 2004 (before that our kids were in a small private Christian school where I also taught). I will post more in the Homeschooling thread about our year. We have a dd, Emilee, who is in grade 11. She works in a local grocery store as well as Kumon, a tutoring place, which she loves! She also deals with being type one diabetic with an insulin pump. She plays piano and flute. Nate is in grade 9. He plays trumpet and has just started karate. Our eldest, Matt, is in Indiana at a small Bible college. He is taking a one year Bible course (and wants to go back for a second year!) Then he plans to attend a small private college in London, ON to take police foundations. He was able to take a coop (as a home school student!!!!) with our local police department during his twelfth year and absolutely loved it! I run a home day care so that keeps me out of trouble! Welcome, Kimberley. Glad you are here. As you can see below, I am a mom to 4 men! Glad you are here. Have fun and jump right in.
Glad to have you here. My friends daughter 7 also has the pump. Far better then those nasty needles they had to use before. We as you see are also in Ontario
I see you are from the Sault...we have very good friends who live in the Sault! They also homeschool. It is a small world.
Welcome welcome....glad to meet you. I too will be leaning on you closer to high school years!!! Which seem to be fast approaching!
First of all welcome Momofmen! Second of all, mmomofmen & northernmomma..I also have a dd11yo who has type 1 & is on an insulin pump. Don't really know others that are in our shoes. No one to talk with who is experiencing the type 1 diabetes thing much less folks that have a child with type 1 & homeschool. Don't get me wrong, not that I am glad that your children have diabetes lol but I am thankful that we have this avenue to communicate. What a blessing!
