    Deep breath. Relax.....

I bought Senior High: A Home Designed Form+U+La a while back on a another board. I fell in love with it immediately! It is full of ideas on how to make your own high school courses and ways to count your child's clubs and activities for credit. The author includes many, many forms along the way so you don't have to reinvent the wheel, hence the title "Form+U+La".

Well, we are winding down my ds14's first official year of high school. I thumbed through the book to find the transcript portion and couldn't find it. I looked in the index, which is a bit confusing since the book is so big and the sections are divided into I, II, III, etc. followed by multiple page numbers for each section. Anyway, I found the transcript section in the index and it was on pages III-23 through III-32. Got to that section and *poof* it is not there. I go through and see if it is in a different place over and over again because it is a revised edition and I thought there might have been some misplaced page numbers in the new edition.

Well....upon closer--much closer--inspection, I notice tiny, tiny little remnants of pages deep in the spine of the book. The ENTIRE HIGH SCHOOL TRANSCRIPT SECTION HAS BEEN CAREFULLY TORN OUT!!!!!!

Deep breath. Relax......so I contacted the seller, for whom I had originally left wonderful praise in their feedback, and she claims that, even though she listed the book in "like new" condition she has "no idea about the book" because it was given to her and she never used it. @#$%&

    Ok. That's all.....sigh....

I was in the midst of finding all of this out when I saw you post that link the other day, Crystal. :) I checked it out and may end up using it. Thanks so much for posting those. I also found some transcripts on the HSLDA site.

It just chaps my hide that I now have a book I cannot resell and nobody would want anyway since the most important forms for many of the people who buy it are the transcripts. There are more than just forms missing. It is the entire section explaining them and the author's experience, too. I am wishing the Spot had a head smack smiley right now.

Brooke, I have my copy somewhere and could copy and snail mail you the pages if you'd like. The only thing is I think it's packed away and I'm not sure where, so it may take me a little while to do. Msg me if you are interested in this.

Brooke, I looked through all of the boxes I could get at and didn't find it. I know it's there somwhere, but I'm afraid that until I move it is buried. So sorry I couldn't help.

I've had one or two bad experiences with eBay, and I buy quite a bit through them, but overall, I'd say 98% has been really good experiences.

I bought one thing once that was advertised as a toy gun, and the picture made it look about two feet long. I purchased it and it turned out to be a GI Joe gun. When I complained, he said it was listed under doll items, but nothing in the description said it was. I learned the hard way to check what things are listed under as well as reading the descriptions. :p

Thanks for checking on that. I have a friend who has the same book and offered to do that for me, too. I bought it on another homeschooling forum. I'm not really even sure what I think it is fair at this point. She doesn't have the pages to mail me, but she didn't offer to refund me in whole or in part, either.

I think I'd give the seller the benefit of doubt, and assume she really didn't know the pages were missing. I could see someone giving it to her, and she never used it.

Wow! If the book worked for you and you are able to use the site for the transcripts you can still re-sell it. Just double print the info that works for the transcripts and send it along with the book to the new owner. If you are upfront that this is what is offered then they know in advance what they are getting. Especially if you get prints from your friend of the missing pages. Copy them for the re-sale. If my DS was at that stage I would be happy to buy it offered this way. Hope I helped a little. (((Hugs))) girl.

Thanks guys. I've come down a few notches from my boiling point. I think I will take your suggestion, ForTheSon. Thanks!

And Jackie, I understand that she didn't know. I was just having a problem with the "tough luck" attitude. I don't understand how a person can not offer to in some way try to make it right. Guess it's time to turn the other cheek. Doggone it. ;)

Brooke, she absolutely should have offered you a refund. You probably would have had to pay the shipping, but that would not have been much for a book. She was definitely in the wrong not to do that. If something is advertised a certain way and someone buys it that is one thing, but if there is something wrong with it that they weren't aware of, most people will refund your money. It's only good business practices.

I DO agree that she should have offered some sort of refund or something.

I had a bad experience once when I bought a "like-new" book. I ordered a BJU grammar and composition workbook. I flipped through it and found over 50 pages with writing in it. The print was SO dark you couldn't erase it. I contacted the seller and she said she didn't know. I didn't believe her because in one of the sentences her child (I'm assuming) wrote it included a name. The name was a significant part of her screen name. Also, you could just flip through the book and see this.
