I'm not usually one to listen to Christian radio. An oddball, I know, but I find most such stations rather irritating. Still, when on a long journey, I do sometimes flip the radio dial - and sometimes I find a station that's playing traditional hymns and songs or reading Bible passages. This week, I was driving from Miami to Orlando when I came across a station called 'Family Radio'. I've come across them before, so I suspect they broadcast nationwide. After listening to a couple of hymns, some guy started talking - and my jaw dropped. This supposedly Christian station was claiming that: - God reveals new things from the Bible all the time - One of the latest 'new things' was the date of the rapture. - This date is May 21, 2011. - The Lord removed his Holy Spirit from the earth some time in the 80s. - The 'church age' is over. - Anyone attending a traditional church is deceived and lost. - The bible passage in which Jesus claims that "no one knows the date" is misinterpreted. So, if, like me, you happen across a radio station called 'Family Radio', beware!
Well, I guess we'll find out for sure in a few weeks whether this guy knew what he was talking about or not, won't we? This wasn't American Family Radio that's based in Mississippi, was it? Was this guy preaching, or on a talk-radio sort of discussion program, or what? I'm sure sorry I missed it!
 Reminds me of a story an old preacher told me years ago. He was studying the Bible with a woman who argued and argued and finally said, "well, that's not what it says in MY Bible", so he turned to the verse with her in her Bible, and she was right... it wasn't there, because she'd clipped it out with scissors the last time she read it.
Well, I guess we don't have long to wait, then, do we? >sitting back, twiddling thumbs< I'm sure glad that it wasn't my American Family Radio that's gone off the deep end... (I find them annoying at times, too, but less so than some others.)
Sometimes I wish it was that soon and who knows it could be sooner. That seems to me a false type of teaching that is trying to deceive people.
What?! I just spent a bunch of money for curriculum for next fall! Seriously, just what kind of radio station was that? Just what is a "traditional church" in their mind? Where did they come up with that date? I've been somewhat disturbed by the UCC church's latest campaign that "God is still speaking". It sounds very innocent at first, but they use it to say God changes with the culture. It's similar to the "God reveals new things from the Bible all the time."
Mom2scouts, go click on the link Steve provided to their website - it explains in great detail how they came up with that date...
Dang. And I haven't been to Ireland yet. Anyone know how to get a seriously expedited passport? Sadly Steve, the idea that God is always changing/revealing new truths is not uncommon. It's one of the foundations of the emergent church.
WOW! Blows my mind that someone has gone to such lengths to (mis)interpret the exact date. So many things I wanted to do... guess I need to hustle to get them done huh?
Let me guess....Harold Camping???? sigh. He tried this in the mid 90s as well. False prophets will be proven so!!!
I heard about a group that believe they were told that date and our traveling around the country in motorhomes with scriptures written all over them. They are trying to tell everyone May 21, 2011 is the date. No one knows the date or the hour. Only God. Jesus said he didn't even know the exact moment only the Father. He will come like a thief in the night. Scary, that a christian radio station would entertain something like that. I guess it is kinda like Y2K.
Oh my goodness!!!!! We were driving from Green Bay to Milwaukee when we saw a billboard that said that about May 21, 2011! My husband and I just laughed and rolled our eyes. I only WISH it were that soon! I wonder if it was sponsored by the same people. Anyways...they are wrong. According to my screenshot below, it's happening next Tuesday!!! With a chance of rain even. Bahaha.
 I know! I had that same thought. Sad thing is, this news station has made this goofy error before. Better break out the sunscreen people!!! lol
Hmm, very interesting, especially since I just accepted Jesus as my Saviour a little over a year ago. According to their website I couldn't have gotten saved since we are in the "silence in Heaven" part. I am glad that I am sure of my salvation and that no matter when God chooses to come back, I will be ready!
