We could use some prayers. With the new baby on the way we need to move out of our apartment and rent a house. The issue we are facing is that there are three military bases in our area and so rentals go very very fast. I have been haunting the websites and calling as fast as new listings appear, but everytime we've been second, third, or worse in the order of applications taken and haven't had the people before us turned down. It is starting to get very close to the time we have to move out or sign a new lease where we are. Please pray that the Lord will help us find something and that we actually get it soon.
Is it possible for you to list your need for a new rental and maybe avoid some of the "line up"? Praying
We tried that last month and unfortunately so far the only responses we had were from people who thought maybe we were desperate enough to pay way too much. For example we were offered a 3 bedroom for $2500 a month. A normal 3 bedroom goes for $900-1000. Our fingers are crossed though on one I found today. I believe we may have finally been the first ones in.
WOW !! lol People really think that someone will pay that much... that's insane. Praying for you guys to find something
I will say a prayer that one will work out for you soon. The rental we are in right now we got through contacting a local realty company. We actually called around to 3, the best known ones for our area. Two of them did rental management and we were able to look at several houses. This might be a way for you to get a first crack at a rental as well. Just letting them know the circumstances and how urgent it is. Who wouldn't be sympathetic to a soon to be new mommy? Good luck on your search.
Well the real estate company idea worked for us. We just signed a lease, but since the market is so in favor of landlords we actually had to pay for the deposit, pet deposit, the rent for the partial first month (they set the move in date so that we only have a week in May to pay for), and the complete rent for June all this week. I was expecting the deposits and rent for May, but was shocked that they wanted June's rent too. It is crazy out here.
Sounds like a typical rental agreement here. They always want first and last as well as a deposit Not a nice surprise by any means when you weren't expecting it though. Glad you found something. When are you due with the new little one?
Happy to hear that you have a rental to go to but sorry to hear it was more expensive initially than you were expecting it to be.
So glad it worked out for you. We will be moving again as soon as our lease is up. There are major issues with where we live, the sewer in the finished basement backs up a couple of times a month minimum. Raw sewage, yech!@ But the landlord won't let us out of our lease, and he can keep charging us even if we move out. Our only option would be to take him to small claims court. Sad because there was an awesome house, better suited and on a little land that we had to pass up. Oh, and the rent was less there too. Father has a method and I have to let go.
Oh gross!! Is there not a rentalsman or even the department of health you can go to and complain about it? Oh my stars that's gross. At the very least, I can and will pray about it... oh my word
All things I say on a daily basis. I spoke with the man managing the house for the landlord. He said I was justified to move out, but that the landlord was within his rights to pursue rent per the rental agreement, and to withhold the deposit because we "broke" our lease. That we can then sue in small claims court and would probably win. If we report it, more than likely we would be told to move out and the house would be closed until it was repaired. The problem is that we don't have the money for first and last at a new place with out the refund of the deposit. Not to mention the cost of moving. We are getting our ducks in a row, watching the drian like a hawk, and using a LOT of bleach.
That does sound gross. Hopefully things will work out for you too so you can get into something nice without too much hassle. I was expecting to have to pay the first and last and deposit. I just wasn't expecting them to want the rent for May and June 7 weeks before they will let us move in. Usually around here you pay the deposit to hold the place and then pay rent when they let you move in. It just makes it more challenging since we are still paying rent where we are currently living and had hoped for a few more paychecks to make it easier on us. At least it is settled and since I'm not due until September I will have the summer to get all settled.
At least now you know to start packing. Be sure to take it easy, be careful not to strain muscles. It's too too easy to do when pregnant, just a light box can do it if you are moving it and twist the wrong way. You pack, let hubby stack and move them. Even if they have to sit until he comes home.
We moved when I was pregnant, and I was only permitted to put things in boxes. The boxes were to be left where I filled them. Then when moving day came I simply went over to the new place and watched the boxes come in telling them which box went in which room...and I was allowed to unpack clothes, dishes, and small stuff that didn't need to go on high shelves. Glad you found a rental! Take it easy on the moving thing.
