Ok I am with you I would go in the storage unit and cut the lock off. Like you said they aren't doing to do anything. If you can't get help I would go do it myself. Sounds like you have all your ducks in row. So, sad. I don't understand how people can live with them self doing that to others. So sad. (((((((HUGS)))) keep us posted.
If I could get in and inform the manager of the storage place of what was going on, I think I'd try this. Take copies of all the paperwork you've filed and ID's and see if they'll let you cut off the lock. What storage company is going to want to be involved? Is there anything in the missing stuff that will verify that it's yours? I know I took all personal documents and things I felt to be irreplaceable with me in our van.
Carl says they'll expect you to cut the lock, and that it will destroy any case you have against them.
These guys are good....not your average scammers. I think they have paid the manager of the storage unit to tell them if anyone shows up or anything. One of the ladies I talked with that got scammed said that after 4 months she finally got the search warrant and the police called the storage unit to tell them that there was a warrant. The manager of the unit called the company and told them about the warrant and someone came out 2 days later (from the company) and stole half her stuff and smashed the rest of it. We also found out that they abandon the storage units and wait until they go to auction. Then they bid on them and win which makes the stuff legally theirs. Then they sell it all on craigslist. There is a special place in you know where for people like this. I am calling the moving company in the morning since the sheriff called them today and now the moving company wants to talk to us. Please pray extra hard tonight that we will be lead by the Lord and know how to handle them and what to say.
Omg, I read through all this and this is just a total nightmare! I'm sooo sooo sorry that you and your family are having to go through all of this. I can't believe people could treat others like this and not feel anything about it! I'll pray for you and your family.
Why did the police tell them in advance? Why didn't they just show up with the search warrant, hand it to them, and go in THEN? No chance for advance prep.
I agree.. there is a lot of advantages to the element of surprise. I often wonder about our law enforcement agencies. I know they have to go to classes, but are there any logic classes in them? Minthia, if there is anything any of us can do, things you need for the kids for school or what ever, there are some great women here and it's amazing the help I have seen them pour out to others when they were in need.
I have to wonder about law enforcement agencies also. My (19) ds' idenity was stolen and the office sat him down and said, "I know you stole your own idenity to cover up the $50.00 in iTunes you purchased and didnt want your parents to know about it." OMG~How funny is that? He is 19, I think he do what he wants with his own $$ without fear of us getting mad. At that point I realized our local law enforcement was useless and installed a security system in my house. Wouldnt want to be robbed and have the cops say we stole our own stuff! :roll::shock:

I have been following all this, but have not comminted... but what I can't get over is why would the police warn the storage place. Praying that you can get your stuff back.
I talked with the sheriff this morning and he talked to the moving company yesterday. He said they want to "get this resolved and set us straight". Which means they want lots of money. However the officer said that if we set a time and location to meet at and they don't show he will clip the locks. Now, we just need to find out where our stuff is exactly and show up before they have time to show up and then tell the officer that they didn't show so we can clip the locks and be gone before they know what happened. A little sneaky yes, but the officer said that would be the only way he can clip locks. Pray that we can find out the location quickly.
We will be praying that your plan will work. We are also praying that the authorities are able to bring them and the storage company to justice. This needs to stop and they need to serve some serious jail time for their crimes.
Wow, I am just now seeing this, I have not been on in a while. I will be praying for a good resolution to all of this in your favor. So sorry that you are going through this and I feel for you. We were scammed by a finance company and lost our house, so I know somewhat how you are feeling. We at least knew what was coming and managed to get our stuff out. (((((Hugs)))))
UPDATE!!! My dh is back in WA meeting the moving company and they are supposed to release our stuff to us. My dh brought law enforcment with him just in case they try to pull something sneaky. I will let you know as the day progresses what is going on.
Lord, we trust that You are in control of this situation. We pray for all of their belongings to be intact and transferred back to them without a scene. We also pray that Your Spirit will draw these people to repentence and to Your Son, Jesus. Thank you, Lord!!!! Amen!
