I know that my older ds did Abeka or BJU for Spelling in his private high school courses but I am not seeing that it did much for his spelling.

What have you used if anything to keep your high school aged students up on top of their level of spelling?
    Thanks!

We haven't, but if I did, I'd use the words from Wordly Wise.

You could try Apples Daily Spelling Drills. They also have phonics drills geared for the secondary student.

I looked at both of these, I have a few questions--- with Apples daily spelling drills how many books do you buy? I saw the Teacher book has some of the answers in it along with the how to teach it stuff.

With Wordly Wise I am wondering cause in the table of Contents I saw it has 1-7 then 1-16 , what happens in between?

I do not know of a teacher's book that goes along with it. We just had the one workbook and the answers were in the back of it.

I do think I want something with just the lists, cause the life pak has reading, and sentence structure, diagrams even.
So maybe that will help me pick, still looking at those two mentioned ones... anything else have jsut spelling?> Does CLE have just a spelling book? Or rather a just spelling book?

If you are just looking to keep up with spelling and not necessarily a whole program then look at this http://www.teach-nology.com/worksheets/language_arts/spelling/

They have some worksheets for high school level and frequently misspelled word lists.

For others who are looking for other grade levels, this site offers pre-k to high school level.

We use Vocabulary from the Classical Roots (I think it is called) and really like it. We've done it for 7th, 8th, and now 9th grade - 2 weeks per chapter.

If you want just lists why not try sequential spelling

    sequential spelling?
Do you mean like that which goes with his work? I am about to just take his vocab words and turn them into spelling words each week. Its not too tough haha, I think I can do this.

That's a good idea, TeacherMom. Take his vocabulary words and make it a spelling list. That would be similiar, I think, to picking misspelled words out of his written reports and essays.

I think that is what I will do, that way we are using working words so to speak?
And Life Pak english 9 has lots of vocab words at the front of each unit/lesson to use!
Good way for him to be for sure studying the vocab words too!
