We do alot at our local YMCA. There is even a homeschool swim class. We also do AWANAs, soccer (club league), Moms group at church (kids play in nursery), Judo (at the Y) and the library. We live in a small town but there really is a lot to do. You just have to look for it.

Luke will also do piano in the fall and ski school in the winter and t-ball in the spring.

Do you have a Y near you? 4H is another great one.

Right now my two older kids (6 and 9) do pretty much the same activities. Through the traditional school year, they both do Scouting (Beavers and Cubs, respectively) and Kids Club one evening a week at our church. Usually they'd both do soccer over the summer, but we haven't had the money yet this year, and likely registrations will be full and we'll miss out. They'll both participate in several different Vacation Bible Schools at different local churches throughout the summer. Sunday School for all three kids every week throughout the year.

My boys are alot younger and are in gymnastics. We live in a small town also, and really that is all we can find to do.

Why don't your boys make their own club/organization? Get some friends and make a "forest exploration club" or whatever. Something they are enthusiastic in. It will let them explore interests, meet other people, and do something different for aehile!

I find a plethora of extra-curricular activities for my younger children, but more limited, affordable activities for my DS13.

Our Y membership gets a lot of use. I take the kids to open gym a few mornings a week and DS13 usually shoots basketballs for 1/2 hour to 45 minutes or he'll go into the fitness center and use the treadmill or recumbent bike. DS13 is also on our parish's basketball team (fall/winter) and track & field team (spring/summer). He also sings in the church teen choir and takes art classes.

DD10 will begin homeschool band this fall, sings in the church choir, plays tennis, ice skates, takes art classes, and does gymnastics.

DD8 takes drum lessons, will be in a homeschool recorder ensemble this fall, sings in the church choir, plays tennis, ice skates, and is on the parish basketball and track & field teams.

All kids want to try karate since they offer it at the same rec center where DD takes gymnastics.

Since we'll be starting HSing again in July, I plan to use the Kids Bowl Free program and our swim club membership as summer PE.

My son has been a competitive swimmer for years and is in Scouts. Daughter attends a pre-pro ballet program(dances 14+ hours a week) so although they love what they do, it doesn't leave too much time for any other extra curricular activities.

We do Awana during the school year and we are getting ready to start a junior gardener's class that is being held at a local greenhouse/ nursery. They are holding this class free of charge for kids 7-12 years old.

I started a weekly gym class with our other homeschool friends and they play with their friends. ( most are homeschooled)

    extra-whatits??

    Nothing..........

Well, they do play football in the fall. And we have art and PE classes here at home.

Otherwise I let them be kids. No over scheduling, running around like a chicken with their heads cut off. If they want to do more, I'll think about it. For now they seem happy playing in the 'hood and wrecking my house. :)

I used to take my kids to The Home Depot on Saturdays because they offered a free kids project. They liked it for a while. They would make projects out of wood.

You might want to take your younger ones to do that sometimes. It gets them out of the house and they get to use hammers and nails! What fun!

We recently signed up at the YMCA. They offered financial aid based on our income which was the only way I could afford it. It covers all activities. I plan on the kids doing sports and swimming and open gym. We do royal rangers at church and dd does youth group. I plan on joining a co-op at the start of the year if I can find a good one.

I am signing ds up for soccer in the fall with one of his friends, and we are also getting him back involved in instructional hockey.

Right now he goes to private school half day K so he gets socialization and such at school. He's a social butterfly so its very important that I get him out next year...I fear he will be bored with no other children around :(

DD who is in ps is in dance, dance, and more dance. She dances on a exhibition dance team (they are not old enough yet to actually compete) through pop warner. She also takes ballet, jazz, and hip hop on fridays and saturday along with a gymnastic class on friday night after her 2 dance classes  She's my busy, busy child.

I'm looking into vacation bible school this summer for ds and the school he goes to now also has sunday school so I may do that twice per month so he can get more. I will also be looking to see if our local library has an homeschool activities to see if I can meet any other hs families.
