are there any thoughts about what you guys will be using next year? I've been looking around the last couple days and I know for sure I will be buying the Math-U-See Primer Set, I thought it might be a little too easy for my son, because we've been doing math for so long, but after watching a sample lesson on their website, I think it will give him even more of a solid foundation to work with! I'm pretty sure this will be the only packaged curriculum that I get, everything else will be the library and stuff. As excited as I am about Math-U-See, I am gnna really have a hard time spending $85 on it! lol oh well.. any thoughts for your children for the coming year?

We are using Sonlight (with L/A) Cores D,G and H.
We are using Wordly Wise, Spelling Power, Easy Grammar (4,6, and Plus.) Wordsmith, and Experiences in Writing.

Real Science 4 Kids (for my 4th and 6th graders) Holt Science for my 7th grader. (He needs to pick which one he'll be using. And then the other kids will do RS4K on the same subject.)

I'm not set on Math yet, but Keegan uses Aleks, and Mac might be using Apex (if he doesn't go to PS for Math.) I'm leaning toward Teaching Textbooks for my 6th grader but I'm not sure. (Lot more expensive and basically the same as Aleks)

And How to Teach Art to Children and Classical Music Start-up Kit for electives. They will be playing football in the fall and wrestling in the Winter.

It is so nice to be able to write this all out and know what I'm using. I have orders in for L/A materials and Science Garrett and Keegan. (I need to put in their book orders.)
Everything is looking good. I'm happy and a lot less stressed!

We finally found a slew of programs that I'll be continuing with.

Both will be using Singapore Math and science. PM and MPH for my son and DM and IS for my daughter. Both are using L'Art de Lire for French.

Daughter will be using Michael Clay Thompson materials for grammar and poetry. Jensen's for vocab and punctuation and Classical Writing Diogenes. Also Getting Started with Latin and after that, Lingua Latina. History will be Oxford's The Medieval and Early Modern World set.

Son will be using Dancing Bears for reading and Apples and Pears for spelling. May be moving on to Writing Tales 1 for writing and grammar. We'll be using the library for Canadian and Nova Scotian history.

Almost all of that is simply continuing what we're using now. Feels awesome to be doing that for the first time! :D

Early? Actually, I start around February! LOL :) I like to have all my ducks in a row for when I hit the used book sales and curriculum fairs in my area. :)

    Anyway...we are doing:

Ancient Civilizations & The Bible - this is our History Core
Wrapping in Historical Fiction, Science & projects to enhance this
Easy Grammar (Daily Grams for my oldest)
First Language Lessons for my Ker (to be 1st grader next year)
Book of Virtues Project for Bible/Character training
    Teaching Textbooks (older two)
    Horizons Math (youngest)
    Spelling Power

Oldest will be doing Apologia Physical Science with a Co-op
My middle will be doing Real Science for Kids Astronomy with a Co-op
Oldest will be doing Photography & Line Drawing, Literature Discussion and PA History and Drama w/ the co-op, too.
My son will do Art, Music, Gym at co-op also.

Not sure what my youngest will do at co-op this year. I know it will have art, music, gym and science...but not sure what they're focussing on yet! :)

I feel like I'm missing something!

    :)

Let's see my 6th, 4th and 3rd graders are doing Amish readers, BJU for English, Science, History and Math. For Spelling all are using Natural Speller.
My 9th grader will be reading Literary works from the library, Easy Grammar, Jensens, World Geography(can't remember what publisher) and BJU for Science and Math.
Also they will all be writing in journals for Creative Writing and practicing cursive writing because their handwriting is terrible!lol
    I think that's it.

I am so new to homeschooling, that I want to ease into it. For that reason (and lots of others), I am mainly using CLE for everything (1st grade). We have CLE Math, Reading, LA, Science, Social Studies, and Bible. I am also using a devotional for DS (The One Year Fun & Active Devotions for Kids), and we will be going to the library weekly for more reading materials for DS. We are also using La Clase Divertida for Spanish. My 3 year old has a bunch of Gakken workbooks.

My plan is to use this year to see what works best with CLE (because I really like them!) and see what we might need to switch up for next year. This first year will be a learning experience for all of us!

Ok I am back... We start things at different times, so we don't have a beginning or end date. But most will be done in the middle of the summer

    Math CLE 100, and 200
Science Exploring Creation with flying creatures of the 5th day
LA - Easy Grammar 3, Progeny Press study guide for Sarah Nobel, Spelling power
    handwriting- Pentime transitions
    History- MOH vol1 2nd semester
    Latin- Prima Latina.
    ------------------------
Other then math and history I received all my books yesterday. I am excited, I feel like I made good choices. They are going to challenge my kids, and me too. I am most excited about Latin, because it is so far outside of my range of knowledge, I will learn a lot. My boy read most of Sarah Noble last night. The Science book has been looked at by everybody with eagerness to start it. Easy Grammar looks not so easy compared to what we have been using. It is going to be a big change.

Nothing here is set in stone yet, and even when it is what we start with we are known to change but so far here is the line up.

    Garrett (12, 7th)
Math: TT Pre Algebra, Family Math, plus games: Smath, Discount and Diploma Dogs
Grammar: Caught Ya Grammar, Easy Grammar, Diploma Dogs and Gramopoly
Vocabulary: Yahoo's Word of the Day and www.freerice.com
Writing: Not sure, have Writing Strands 4 for him, but maybe Jump In?
History: History Odyssey Ancients level 2
Geography: CM style map labeling, Study chosen countries in depth, play games Where in the USA is Carmen SanDiego, Where in the World is Carmen SanDiego, and On Assignment with National Geographic
    Science: Oak Meadow 7
Art and Music will come from the Core Knowledge Sequence guidelines I believe
Spanish: Not 100% sure I have 3 options here right now to go through

Rylee and Reagan (6 and 5, 1st and K, respectively but working mostly together),
Math: Funtastic Frogs, Family Math, Candy Math Books, a variety of living math books following the Core Knowledge Sequence plus a variety of games: Dino Math Tracks, Racko, Chutes and Ladders, Presto Change-O, Yatzee, among other mommy made games

Reading: We are using LeapFrog, Starfall, the list of Grade 1 Readers from Sonlight (Including the I can Read It books) and HOP, each are working at their own pace.

Grammar: Maybe First Language Lessons 1

Writing: maybe nothing, maybe Draw Write Now

Handwriting: Created by me using Startwrite

History: Torn between HO Ancients 1 and the Core Knowledge Sequence, leaning toward the Core I think right now

    Geography: Core Knowledge Sequence

    Science: Core Knowledge Sequence

Art and Music: Core Knowledge Sequence

I've been thinking for awhile about what to do with Ben next year. I THINK:
Bible: R&S Reading finish 3 and start on 4
Reading: finish Pathways 3 then start CLE 3
English: Maybe switch back to CLE according to the test I'll give him when we're done for the year. If I do that, I won't need to get separate spelling and penmanship. For vocabulary we've started making sentences with the spelling words and I'll continue that next year. But if I decide to stick with R&S English 4, I'll get CLASS spelling 4 and Pentime 6 penmanship.
    Math: CLE 5
Social Studies: History: CLASS 4 American and Geography: the 50 states
Science: We never did get around to doing Considering God's Creation, so we may go ahead and do that. But we may do R&S 4.
    Health: R&S 4 (1x/wk)
Language Arts Enhancement (that's what they'd call it in ps, anyway - extras) Sequential Spelling 2, Daily Grams 3, Developing Better Reading (1x/wk), Abeka Read & Think 3/4 (1x/wk)

We may get a new student next year - a mom came to talk to me today about it. He's turning 8 in a few days. He suffered Traumatic Brain Injury when he was 3, has seizures in his sleep, is ADHD, and he tends to have TBI-related anger issues. He has repeated kindy, and is just finishing first grade. The ps has promoted him to second grade, when really he's more like kindy level academically, and they refuse to back up to where he really is even in a special class - they insist he has to "stay up with the regular class". He was evaluated in kindy in another state before they moved here, and was evaluated again here, but they still won't put him in any sort of special class even part-time until next school year. If he comes with us, I'll have to start him out at the beginning all over again - mom says he knows the letters and the sounds, but can't yet blend them into words. He can't write yet, but he can trace and copy. He knows a little arithmetic, but I'm not sure how much "a little" is...

I’ve been getting boxes in this week, and I am really excited about our choices for next year!

DS (3.5) = HOD Little Hands to Heaven

    DD (9) =

    Math: CLE 4

Language Arts: Queen’s Language Lessons for the Elem. Child 2 (This won’t last us all year. I’m not sure what we’ll do after that. I’d like to find something that focuses a bit more on grammar.) Queen’s Words of the Week for vocabulary; Spelling Wisdom

Reading: HOD Drawn Into the Heart of Reading (plus lots of books to go with our ancient history study)

Handwriting: Queen’s Pictures in Cursive and Copybook for Girls

Social Studies: MOH 1, Draw and Write Through History, start our “book of centuries”; US geography (not entirely decided on what to use for this one)

Science: Apologia Land Animals; nature study

Bible: Apologia “Who is God and Can I Really Know Him?”; Queen’s Journaling Through the Bible

Plus poetry, PE (weekly co-op class, soccer), composer study and music (piano, recorder, singing), picture study and art (Lamb’s Book of Art and all kinds of other fun stuff!), and life skills (Keepers of the Faith).

We’re both ready for a break, but I think we’ll be eager to start back by the beginning of August.
