My name is Rebecca. I am a sahm born and raised in North Carolina. I've been married for 9 years to a wonderful, patient, generous man named Eric. I've been a mommy to Ethan for 8 years. He is very precocious, smart, hilarious, and theatrical. He questions everything and bucks the system. I like that about him. He has spunk and is much braver than I have ever been. Ok on to me... I am ecclectic with my likes, They range from crocheting, cooking, couponing, interneting, watching movies (scary-romantic-documentaries-action), and reading. I am new to homeschooling. I'm pretty scared and intimidated about it. I'm not worried about teaching my son. It the fact that there is so much stuff out there,"What if I pick the wrong thing?". It's such a broad spectrum of choices. I'm glad to have the ability to choose. Ethan has been PS his entire schooling experience. So this is new to all of us. He is a rising 4th grader. He loves legos, computer games, cartoons, and anything funny. He also shows a lot of interest in anything war related. He wants to go into the military when he's older. I am a mama to two dogs (Beans and EJ), two cats(Gavin and Icky), and a goldfish named killer.
Hi Rebecca, We are in NC too and have always lived here. What part of NC are you in? We are finishing up our fifth year of homeschooling our daughters. One is finished now and has just started working. Our baby is almost 13 and will be starting 8th grade in the fall. We have five other kids who are older and all went to public school. Glad you joined us! Beth
Welcome I too am nervous about picking the wrong thing. I know it will all work out in the end. As long as my kids are relaxed, have fun and love to learn again I have done my job for this year coming up!
Hi Rebecca! I'm Marta. I have 5 boys but only 3 are in school. I had the hardest time picking curriculum for the next year. I took LOTS of advice from the wonderful group here at the spot.
I have a cousin who lives in Indian Trail. When she was little she stayed with me a lot and played with my twins. Now she is all grown up and Mom to four little ones.
Welcome!!! I am new as well and even though it seems intimidating, just do what feels right for your family. What works for others may not be your calling and vice versa, but there is so much support here, you will find many giving an encouraging word! And remember that you can do it!
Welcome! Your ds sounds like mine when he was that age....and still. I love, love, LOVE having my kids at home to laugh with all day.
Hi!!! I have a rising 4th grader, too! Every year I struggle on what curriculum to pick! I think I have 2 question threads going right now on that topic.
