Freddy is at the beach with his sister and his daddy. So this morning at 3 or a little after, I woke up to a high pitched "screaming" sound coming from the front part of the house. My dogs started barking like crazy at the same second and would not stop. At first I thought it was a person, but when I got more awake I knew it had to be an animal. It was very bright outside from the moonlight and I walked throught the house without turning on any lights. In the kitchen the noise was horrible. I switched on the light to the kitchen porch and there were two hugh raccoons out there fighting over the cats food dish! I banged on the door and yelled at them and one took off. The second one jumped up in a window we leave part of the way open so the cat can come and go. I banged again and it finally took off too. I am glad Freddy got to go to the beach with his sister (she is terminally ill), but man I can't wait for him to get home! I don't like chasing away wildlife at 3 in the morning! Oh and like an idiot I told Babyboy about the raccoons so all day today he has been yelling that he sees a raccoon everywhere he looks. He thinks it is real funny!

You are very brave at 3 in the morning. For a second as I read, I thought you were going to say that the raccoon came all the way in the house from the window...that would have been interesting. We have birds that swoop down and steal dog food from the house behind us. My dog loves to go outside and hunt around the yard for pieces that the birds drop.

Around here we had a big tom turkey break into someone's home. He flew into the window, broke it, and became running through the house all crazy. Destroyed alot of their stuff. The wife and kids who were in the house got out safely, but all the same. It's terribly odd why an animal would do that.

A few years ago when Freddy was the police chief here in our small town, he got a call to go to an insurance agency one morning. The owner had come to work to find the front door, which was glass, broken and signs of blood around it. He waited until the officers got there and they all went inside. Freddy said he noticed hair on the broken glass and had just said, "I think and animal did this." When a deer ran out of one of the back rooms right past all of the men and back out through the hole in the door. They went outside but couldn't find it anywhere. It had made a huge mess in the office! I wonder if they see the reflection of themselves and run into the glass trying to fight or something?

We have been very careful to keep the cat food covered and so far our early morning "guests" have not been back for another visit. I am hoping they have found somewhere else to mooch an early morning snack!
