It's getting to be Troll Season, please all remember not to feed them, especially after midnight, because you don't want to know what they can morph into
LOL yeah I think I missed it too. We haven't had any trolls here in a really long time. Maybe a few gnomes or elves though
There is one now that I don't think needs fed, not sure if it's a troll or not, but asking a very ummmm I don't know the word.. pointed? snarky (possibly)? question with no explaination as their very first post kind of makes me uncomfy.. and I happen to like my comfort zone
I have found the moderators to be great. There was a day where I was on...oh, a little too much...and I read a few posts that seemed rather trollish to me, and the posts were removed rather quickly. So, if you don't know, it can be a good thing (although I personally find the troll posts to add a little excitement to my day). I have been busy today, so it sounds like I missed some troll activity.
I was wondering what y'all meant. That is, until I found a post from someone asking a question (their first on the forum) that seems a little, uh, snarky, as someone put it. Thanks for the heads up. Don't feed the trolls!
I've come across one or two questionable posts. If you find one, give Amy a heads-up, and she's AWESOME at dealing with it quickly and efficiently!!! Amy, you're the greatest!!!
I'm new here. Just a few posts. I'm sorry if I'm considered a troll. Did I ask a wrong question? I'd love someone to let me know what I did wrong.
Nope not you Sometimes things jump out at me... and when someone shows up asking a really ummmm not so homeschool friendly question (like what makes homeschooling difficult) and it's their first and only post, and gives no explaination as to why they are asking, it just makes me get the gut feeling that every answer that could be used against homeschooling is going to turn into some dimwits meaningless rant as to why homeschooling is bad or wrong or whatever. I just think it's important not to give them any food, because what seems harmless can become a mess at times.
I think we all tend to notice it more when someone joins and never does an introduction post. I always think, "Well who are you?" when a post like that pops up. Sometimes I can't tell if it is a parent or a kid who is looking for other homeschooled kids.
Well let me just say that at 4am this morning there were SEVERAL strange usernames logged in, 2 said they were "MAN" one said from "NAMBIA" the other from "RUSSIA" I forget now what their interests were, but I found it strange... and there were a few more at that time too.. acutally one is still on now
Nope, as I have been reading through posts, it is obvious you are here to learn and share in your homeschooling journey. Trolls come in and post derogatory, useless, and downright rude/hurtful junk just for entertainment. All others are always welcome to step in, put up your feet, and join us at the table for a cup of tea or a little whine . Yep, I just made myself LOL.
You all may already know this, but because this site is indexed by Google if someone searches for example "home school" and "problems" it brings up this site and any posts where those two words are mentioned. Just something to keep in mind....
